The HD remake of Another World, the 20th anniversary edition, is out today: http://store.steampowered.com/app/233550/

As is Evoland, an indie love letter "journey through the history of action/adventure gaming" where you upgrade from monochrome 2D graphics to full 3D and different kinds of combat over the course of the game: http://store.steampowered.com/app/233470/

I'm holding off on Another World until it's in a Steam Sale, but Evoland is an instant must-purchase.

That same version of Another World is part of the Android Humble Bundle right now I believe.

Yeah as part of the mobile bundle, but I don't see any mention of it being good on a desktop as well

That said - has anyone seen mention on their mobile bundles being usable on the desktop? I thought Plants vs Zombies would be, or even Dungeon Defenders but I couldn't get that going (admittedly I didn't look too hard though)

Presumably you'd have to have some kind of Android emulator to use it on the desktop.

I was thinking of trying to find a way to apply the product-key to allow access to a different platform or something. =/

Actually, just noticed that it's published by focus home interactive, so there's a chance they've got DRM on there. I'm going to hold off for a few weeks to give people a chance to seed google with hatred over drm (if any).

Don't most games on Steam have some form of DRM or another? Except for systems like Games for Windows that make me do an extra login that I hate (such as Street Fighter 4), it's never been obtrusive.

No lie.

The steam platform itself is the DRM. You can't run the game without loading up steam and launching it from it.

You know, I'd be all over OOTS/another world, except that, $10? Nah. Same with age of empires. I'd play it, but I'm not paying $20 for a decade+ old game. Plus, it has a shitty launcher. Fuck those. I'll pick them up when they're $7 or less.

If you have been waiting to buy Farcry 3 on sale like I have, it is $30 for the next 24 hours.

That's actually one that I have on my Summer Sale list. I think it will be $20 by then, which is my price point for shooters at this point.

I only now got around to firing up farcry 3, which I bought on steam.  I would not have purchased it had I known it uses uplay.  I do not fire up steam only to launch another god damn launcher which is just a shitty version of steam so that I can play the game I already bought, on steam.

Fuck.

It is annoying, I agree. But for a nominal price of $5 or so on the AC games I was willing to put up with the inconvenience. I don't believe UPlay has an always online thing for saves, just the launcher.

Ugh, I wish Steam was more obvious about which titles you already own.  "Here's a list of like eighty games which are on sale.  I already have like seventy of them, time to go through one at a time and see which ones I'm missing!"  It's especially annoying with DLC. Fifty little gromits all for 25¢ each, time to add one to the cart, go back to the main store page, back to the game's page, re-open the DLC menu, add the next one, go back to the main page...
[/offtopic]

I think the only game there I don't have (AS FAR AS I CAN TELL #@$%$) is Clone Wars: Republic Heroes, anyone have any idea if it's worth the seven bucks?  The Metacritic looks frowny.

I snagged both KOTORs, Empire at War, Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy, and both Force Unleashed for like..30 bucks all told. I really didn't want the rest in the big honking pack.

Took a bit of work getting KOTOR 1 to run properly, but seems like there's been some tweaking compared to the disc versions I had, since "a bit" beats the hell of out what I had to do with the disc versions -- and it didn't work as well as what the Steam copy is doing,.

i could never get KOTOR to get past the splash screen (even by disabling movies via instructions online).  After a half hour I said screw it :(

Gotta run it admin in compatibility mode (XP Sp2 seemed to work fine), at least on Windows 7, as well.

I mostly ran it through the prologue, and was having an easier time of it than before.

There was a fairly involved process for getting KOTOR to run in widescreen back in the day.  Do the tweaks include native widescreen support?

I've got a 1600x900 monitor and it worked fine. I think the aspect is probably a bit skewed, but I didn't notice it. I was running fullscreen, though.
