PS2 is free and the battles are bigger. Just saying.
PS2 is not nearly as fun as BF3, much less BFBC2. Just saying.

BF isn't just about the size of the battles. DICE can't code for shit, but they are really good at making a compelling combined arms experience.
For once the BF server browser isn't shit! This time it's the servers themselves <3

So there's a bug where if you use a specific gun and put a silencer on it, when you fire it you knock out sound for everyone on the server. No joke.
Great job on Q&A Dice!

If BF3 was the measure, yes.

Tuned in, immediately get to watch cringey Ubisoft talking head offering her deepest sympathies to the families impacted by the Orlando shooting while flanked by a man in a giraffe suit and some sort of "horrifically garish neon costumes through the ages" exhibit or something. We need to stop this fucking planet right now and sort some shit out. -Kail

Yes, which wouldnt matter except they put in all these progression gates to stretch out the game.

Wow, spent the day yesterday playing the single player and finished it. Replayed the last segment (there are 7) to get a different unlock for multi player. It unlocks 2 knives, 1 pistol, 1 pdw (smg), 1 assault rifle, and 1 lmg if you play the last episode with different endings. Not bad, but not great. DICE quality control is freaking wonky!
The M249 SAW that I unlocked is a beast after I upgraded it.
Unfortunately, the code is nutz. Levelcap was commenting on it too, where you can be hidden but then get killed. Almost as crazy as Planetside 2 spazm when you can have great days and bad day of internet lag/code/who knows what else. Where you can be hitting everything from insane ranges and killing them easy, to wtf, why am i dumping a full clip into them and not killing them.
I'm pretty stoked on buying a playstation 4 now, just because of this game and Planetside 2, plus Sony does have a big production factory in my town, so I guess I should root for the local team.

Why would they make unlockable knives? It's already a one-shot kill, what do the unlocks add?

The knives that you unlock don't do anything different other than look cool. I'm running around with a machete!
My sound for my M249 is cool, it is the sound the mini-gun makes. I'm sure that is a bug, but for right now it is pretty cool, it starts off like the whirl then buzz! Doesn't affect the bullet speed or damage, just has a wrong sound on it. YA! DICE sucks at QA.

Yup. The BF4 Axiom. Went 8800 as Assault, unlocked tons of stuff, got a star, tons of ribbons, 30 tickets left - CTD.

Video shows only a person who doesn't understand cone of accuracy, or spread while holding down a fully automatic spray. It's not hit scan, just because the cross-hairs are on something doesn't mean that's where the bullets are going to go. If you pay attention to the background you can see the ridiculous spread caused by moving without stopping and then launching right into a fully automatic spray.
The game has many issues that people can use to tear it down. With everything that is actually broken, I get frustrated seeing videos like that, that illustrate only that the person doing the recording is retarded at shooters.

Video shows the enemy had 13 health at the end. Makes sense to me. The recorder was one shot short of winning that sprayfest.

Speaking of which, I've been rocking a .4 K:D ratio in this game so far while learning (rank 4 now). But last night I jumped into a map and killed 6 people before my first death, 4 of them with a pistol. Man did I feel awesome about that.

Yay, more screenies of pubbies being bad!
Picked this up a couple of days ago; seems fine so far. Apart from the occasional crash, and the visual clutter, game is pretty decent. If anything, hit detection seems more crisp than BF3.

Having said that though, class balance is just a little bit wonky. Assault gets an incredibly good automatic right off the bat, with the support coming in second, whereas the other two classes are stuck for a while until some unlocks. Also, the 'battlepack' and unlock systems are arse.

I may be getting too old for these games. Everything seems so fast and overwhelming. I have been having fun when I play, but I am not terribly effective I keep reminding myself of this when these new versions come out. I don't have the time to put into learning all the crap you need to know to enjoy a video game anymore. It's not like I'm single with a big sack of weed and all night to play BF1942 with a clan of buddies anymore. Know thyself.

Heh, I realized that years ago when I first started getting my ass handed to me. It's one of the primary reasons I'm not happy with the push for multiplayer everything and single player nothing in games. New hobbies await.

So, uh, is there some trick to the server browser? It's giving me about three servers that have anyone playing.
edit: finally found a good UK server. Why is it that the Germans always want to play infantry only on cramped maps and everyone plays like they're on drugs?

Couple of hours in now, I seem to be doing better than in BF3. The mechanics of the thing are still completely retarded and a whole lot of weapons completely useless for no apparent reason, but flanking still mostly works and the game is quite a spectacle. Might even go single player this time, given that there's burning warships and stuff.

The single player campaign looks great but the story is terrible. I've been having a lot of fun in multiplayer, but I'M terrible. I don't think I'll ever be great at FPS games. My reflexes are just too slow these days. Still, I'll happily handicap our team if I'm having fun.

Oh man, I tried the campaign and it immediately slapped me in the face with two major bugs. One, accidentally hitting the console key can lock up the game. Two, there is no way to use binoculars even though get a pair in the first five minutes. This partially stems from a bug also present in multiplayer where if you change the default keybinds, it breaks the key prompts. But I also discovered that there is no way to use the binoculars even on a 360 controller.
I'll stick to multiplayer.

The Mobile AA is great too (even I can get a bunch of kills on that). As a bonus I quite enjoy taking out helicopters and planes.

Hey Satael, it was nice squadding with you! Even though I constantly got lost. That one tank run was epic.
On the subject of AA tanks, seems to me the aircraft are made out of adamantium, 36 hits from the vulcan and it's still not down.
Some further observations, all negative because fuck EA:
- map structure is really incoherent, you often can't sit still for 30 seconds without someone sneaking up behind you. I don't like this run-in-circles game design. BFBC1 or 2 had it much better with shifting battle lines. - spawning is dumb. Why does the game plant you at a random spot looking in a random direction? It's not uncommon to spawn with you back to the enemy. - netcode is still shit. Some players seem to have death rays for guns and others can't hit anything. The one time I snuck up on a sniper, I spent 30 seconds wildly flailing at him with my knife and nothing happened. I ended up having to shoot him. - tanks and IFVs are way too mobile. They're more like battlesuits the way they function right now. Did the devs see Titanfall or something?
edit: also, can't play after 10pm. All the nolifers come out at that point and the "noobs" start flying in the chat. Probably in the voice chat too but I don't know how it works.
