I have a ton of nostalgia for the NES version of this as one of the best licensed games of that era.  The gameplay looks exactly the same.

That was remastered footage?  Did they use the same computers from the days of yore too?

 DRILLING AND MANLINESS

Played the ever loving shit out of this game when I was a kid.  Can't wait to hear the voice acting.

I'm really curious how they handle the soundtrack.  After all, it produced what most consider one of the best NES era songs:

Wow. I'm not sure how long it's been since I last heard that tune - it must have been something like twenty years - yet I remember every last bit of it. I miss the days when games had tunes like that, ones that actually stuck in your brain, ones you could whistle along to. In fact, I often find myself whistling or humming to tunes from old games like that, not realizing what I'm doing until someone else starts asking about it. Can't say I've been doing the same for any recently released games. :/

Like so many other things in gaming, this is holywood's fault. They moved away from Wagnerian motifs a couple decades ago, and now that every dev house is trying to make interactive movies we're no longer getting strong thematic compositions.

I feel like after the internet being, well, the internet for the last 15 years there is nothing about the Fatal Farm Ducktales opening that should make someone go "... the fuck?!" It's just not out there enough. Not even a little bit in the realm of out there.

He's right.  I've seen much weirder shit, but not of that vintage.

The other thing I've got going on this side of my keyboard is that I not only missed Duck Tales, I'm not sure I have ever heard of it.  If I have, it wasn't anything like "internet neckbeards give seven thumbs up" like what I'm seeing here; maybe an ad on TV at best.  So the weirdest part for me is (in my mind) a random licensed game from 1989 having a highly-anticipated remake in 2013, as well as a cult following complete with proto-4chan video.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

It's very weird, I'll give you that.  I remember playing DuckTales and it was annoying, frustrating and largely felt like most of the other Nintendo games of that genre.  A cash grab action platformer that paled in comparison to Mario <version> or even a dozen other platformers.

In fact, I distinctly remember my siblings and I figured out the easiest way to beat the game was just to pogo across the entire board. Much like beating Top Gun was all about "climb left and wait for the landing."

The past cannot be changed. The future is yet within your power.

I'm with you two old farts. I was old enough when Duck Tales came out that I didn't give a shit about the show, and I didn't have an NES so my knowledge of games on that system are secondhand.

I'm nearly as old, but I'm pretty sure I saw every Duck Tales episode in existence.  Hell, I even watched Darkwing Duck.  I would blame this on my little brother, but I watched cartoons after school for a long time.  In Phoenix, you want to be indoors 90% of the time or you risk sun stroke.

I don't remember it being a bad platformer, but I was pretty terrible at the genre as a kid.  I never did beat it, but I'm pretty sure my brother a neighborhood friend did.

I'll buy this as long as the price isn't too high.  I don't pay top dollar for nostalgia.
