James Purefoy as a university professor who was using his classes to create a Manson-esque cult of serial killers and Kevin Bacon as the tortured ex-FBI agent brought in to bring them down. Fucking brutal and epic. There's a marathon of the first three eps tomorrow night on FX.

Tuned in, immediately get to watch cringey Ubisoft talking head offering her deepest sympathies to the families impacted by the Orlando shooting while flanked by a man in a giraffe suit and some sort of "horrifically garish neon costumes through the ages" exhibit or something.  We need to stop this fucking planet right now and sort some shit out. -Kail

Be Warned :

This show is entirely predictable from the get go.  I win money every week on 'what's going to happen' and nothing's surprised me yet.  Further, I have a large wager on something spoilerly that I'm 100 percent fucking sure of.

It's a good show, but it's like having deja vu for an hour.

That's the Bacon Effect. Dude's been in so many productions that all story lines converge upon him.

I traded in my fun blog for several legal blogs. Or, "blawgs," as the cutesy attorney blawgosphere likes to call 'em.

I watched the first episode and just found Kevin Bacon to be too fucking hammy in his role. And not a good fun hammy like Kiefer Sutherland can pull off (or maybe I just like him too much). It just seemed off in some way.

I was drinking when I wrote this, so sue me if it goes astray.

I watched the first handful of episodes and have decided to bail. I couldn't give two fucks about the bad guys, their unexplained infatuation with their cult leader, Poe and any creepy love triangles within, Kevin Bacon's character and his constant facepalming-ly stupid actions, his ex-girlfiend (the bad guy's ex-wife), or Iceman. The show is terrible. It's dark just to be dark and the bad guys do things just to be bad.

Honestly, the only thing I wanted to see was the rescue of the poor kid caught up in the whole retarded mess but I stopped caring about the outcome of that, too.

Fox, not FX. Darn, I got all excited.

I lasted the first show and barely hung on till the end. Fucking horrible, which means it will run 6 seasons or more... not saying Alcatraz was a great show, but it was way better than this.

Americans likes sex torture porn (involving women) but does not like to admit it. This explains the popularity of shows like these - L&O:SVU, Criminal Minds, slasher movies, Saw series etc.

Alcatraz was IMHO pretty good - ended on a cliffhanger finale. It's a great pity we will never see how the Warden's schemes played out and the fate of the female detective.

How last night's episode should have ended.

"Tell him I'm killing you and it's his fault..."

"Hold on a second while I switch hands. Ok, Kevin Bacon? Yeah, psycho boy over here wants me to tell you he's killing me and it's your fault. Oh, wait, scratch that. I just punched him in the throat and then rammed my elbow into his face a few times before grabbing him by the hair and slamming his head into the dashboard. You can come get him over in the parking lot on Oak street. I'll be in the bar across the street having a whisky and staring at the stumps where my fingers used to be..."

I also like how the highly trained FBI agents always rush off into dangerous situations without calling for backup or telling anyone where where they are. When Bacon rushed through the door in the mall and got ambushed and his gun taken I was rolling my eyes... but he does something daft *every episode*.

This is back. Starts with the anniversary of Joe Carroll's death, and Kevin Bacon trying to stay out of it after sobering up.

Then a train of people get fucked up by guys in Joe masks. Gets even weirder when a pair of twins murder a blonde chick and then turn the creepy up to 11 while playing with her corpse.

I can't even remember how the first season ended, except I remember a lighthouse.

I think not.

Yep lighthouse blows up killing Joe. Except shocker, he's not really dead. Anybody not see that coming? We have to have a reason for round 2, so it's not even a spoiler at this point.

I knew he wasn't dead, too, and it has to be VERY predictable for me to guess correctly.  I'm usually wrong.

Kevin Bacon looks especially creepy in this so I'm watching it. Plus it fills that void in my entertainment where I want to watch fictional people get stabbed.
