Just wanted to give you guys a heads up on a site that I'm getting a kick out of.  It's called Audioscrobbler, and basically it aggregates the songs you're playing on whatever media player you've got, lets you create groups of likeminded people, and review each others playlists.

Free to use, all you have to do is sign up (you don't even have to give an email addy) and download a plugin for whatever media player you've got.  I already set up a user group called Broken Toys for all us Lummie exiles.  If you're up for it, give it a try.

Lummie exiles? Lum's browsing the forum as we speak. And I'm not broken. Despite the fact Jason Lee is a scientologist! I'm just slightly jostled.

Lummie exiles?

Okay, not exiles.  Lummies who've been flung to the four corners.  Better?

Sounds cool. I think I'll load this up soon. I need a sig anyways (and an avatar...but I'm too fickle)...

Your Scottish Obsession is beginning to worry me.  Trust me, nothing good will come of it.

I'm not obsessed wiith Scottish.  I am obsessed with my husband who is very Scottish.  He turns me on.  If anything, I'm mostly obsessed with obscure references, surreal analogies and those bouncy little cupcakes covered in marshmallow and coconut.

mmm.

All I have to say is that Stormwaltz has easily matched my Johnny Cash and Pogues fixation with his Peter Murphy fixation.

His best work was with Bauhaus, beeyotch!

It really wasn't. Between Marlene Dietrich's Favorite Poem, Cuts You Up, Big Love of a Tiny Fool, Indigo Eyes, Subway, I'll Fall With Your Knife, and Scarlet Thing in You - Bauhaus has nothing on his solo efforts. He may be an ego maniac, but that guy can lay down some mean lyrics.

Just for the record: I _love_ Bauhaus. Also, if you didn't know, they are getting back together for one concert at Coachella 2005. Merely days before E3. And for that I hate them. I never got a chance to see Bauhaus live, though I've seen Peter Murphy.

Actually, I like Peter Murphy a lot, and aside from Kiss (who I really don't like that much), he put on the best concert I've ever seen.

Like Pete Townshend, he's put out a lot of good solo stuff, but I prefer his original band better.

Hell yeah, this is cool! Glad to see I'm not the only one with wildly eclectic tastes...

Hmm...any tricks for the sig? Mine is looking all garbled to me, Gulp and Stray's look fine.

Try something like that, all one line, and within image tags. It'll do white text on black. I set up the timezone stuff for you too. Just change the user name entry.

Ahh, tight. Thanks a lot, that's pretty cool imo, I love most things musical. I've been wanting something like this, because iTunes doesn't rank tunes you play on random shuffle, which is pretty much what I do every morning.

Er...everyone?

If we get three more people in the group we get weekly statistical charts! C'mon, music lovers! Charts are cool.

Heh, I've been scanning the group stats multiple times a day in the hopes of seeing the numbers jump up, and today was the jackpot.  Come back from PT and bang!  Two more members.

Hey guys, when you have Audioscrobbler shit in your sig, and it's trying to grab information on what's playing, it makes the page take forever to load just to get a "coming soon" message. Catch my drift?

Edit: And no, I'm not saying remove it - I'm saying play something so there's always information in that little image.

Yeah, I noticed a slight performance hit when loading pages. I'd hate to lose such a cool toy, but I'll understand if it gets too slow. And it's all Mr. Hat's fault anyway. Don't make me get Mr. Stick or *shudder* Mr. Slave.

Hmm...  Yeah, it looks like everything's working.  Audioscrobbler says you're listening to the Wu-Tang Clan, but for some reason your Sig isn't updating.  I checked that, though, and everything looks correct.

Weird.

If you want to reduce the load on the public denness.net server, replace denness.net in your sig file with brokentoys.org. I've set up a mirror.

Ok, Lum's mirror is working for me now.

I wonder if the audioscrobbler site got too big for itself, I can't load my homepage today and Bruce is whining :)

Stray's hangs half the time.  I've had a couple of problems with other users as well.  It's a cool idea, but not really apropriate for .sigs, IMHO.

I'm on Broken Toys just like everyone else. There's no need to specifically name me.

I will admit though, that the server is slower than usual today.

There is.  I can't explain why, but it hangs on yours, specifically, about half the time.  It's hung on other people's too, of course.

This has gotten uninteresting. I mentioned the hanging a few days ago. Conversation over.
