I debated making a thread since I couldn't find one anywhere on search.

Went to see this over the weekend and enjoyed it.  I had no clue what it was about other than the trailers on TV which kept talking about Tom Cruise in the role, so I didn't know it was a musical.  The plot is hackneyed and cliché as all hell but the music wasn't bad.  Definitely better if you were a child of the '80s, I think.

Let's just say it was a nice evening out with the husband but I don't think I'll be running through the streets telling folks to run right out and see this.  Not even sure I'd say wait for the DVD to come out either, but eh.  Don't feel like the money was wasted.

This is playing at the drive ins near me with The Avengers (which I have already seen). Might be worth a couple of hours.

Saw the trailer for this before the Avengers and was surprised because I hadn't heard anything about it.  I could tell it was a musical from that, which amused me more and more as they went through the song list and I saw who was in it.

Here's the soundtrack on Apple: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/rock-of-ages/id523008750

Paul Giamatti singing Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again" would be worth the price of admission alone, IMO.

The play was better.

Tuned in, immediately get to watch cringey Ubisoft talking head offering her deepest sympathies to the families impacted by the Orlando shooting while flanked by a man in a giraffe suit and some sort of "horrifically garish neon costumes through the ages" exhibit or something.  We need to stop this fucking planet right now and sort some shit out. -Kail

Our local NPR station's music and film critics both resoundingly panned it.

I traded in my fun blog for several legal blogs. Or, "blawgs," as the cutesy attorney blawgosphere likes to call 'em.

Wanted to see it, but giving Mr Scientology preacher money rubs me the wrong way. Glad I'm missing not all too much.
