So this thing is coming out tomorrow. AFAICT it's a post-apocalyptic squad-based diablo made by Swedes, set in Sweden.
The buzz is that it's pretty good, especially for 15 bucks. I preordered because I like this sort of thing.

I'll elaborate once I get my hands on it, I promise! Steam has no pre-load so can't play it tonight. :(

I forgot to say the game was fairly buggy (as in wouldn't load at all) on my rig when I was testing it about a month ago. I'd let it marinate a few days and check the forums before plopping down any money.

Goddammit. Make me google it, whyn'tya. Game site.Steam link.Non crashing links, I promise ;) edit to add: No mandatory connection to an online service: For those who rather stay clear of online gaming and enjoy playing through the campaign in offline mode there is a fully supported single player offline mode.
Haha Diablo 3, here's a stick in your eye.

So I played a bit and have some random thoughts.
It's an ARPG where you control a group of three dudes, chosen from at least four classes. There's a big upgrade system for both skills and stats, unlocked gradually as your guys gain experience. The upgrade slots are filled with drops or crafting, which seems like a huge part of the game, although there is traditional loot too. You get three party members at the beginning, but there are recruiting stations where you can hire all sorts of dudes provided you have the money. They're color coded so there's probably a rarity system for them too.
Gameplay is non-pausable real time, but so far comfortably paced so you have ample time to use skills. Apparently there's permadeath for your guys, if they get injured too many times.
Story and atmosphere wise it's a very silly and Swedish kind of game, a bit like Magicka but not quite as overboard (for now at least). There's promise of a real story and the whole thing started out with lots more dialogue than I expected.
edit: oh, and the game apparently doesn't work on Windows XP.

It's DX11 only, iirc. They'd like to make a DX9 version, but don't have the dev budget to deal with it right now.
I'm still grabbing the release client, but the beta was fun. Level matters a bit too much, so my scouts got one shot a lot (death and wounds are based on number of times downed before seeing a doctor. Your third death/run I believe starts incurring penalties.) and I never managed to find any new skills. I loved the style however, and the game itself is pretty well done. I'm hoping the release client is pretty updated, since the public test was a good month or two out of sync.

Apparently the co-op won't be coming until a patch in July. Looks pretty interesting though.

Not sure if females come at any point. I got far enough to get what I assume are mutants? They have little green bubbly backgrounds to their models. It made me wonder about the intent of the game though, I could hire max level 15 humans, or max level 5 mutant things from the same city. Next city was max level 10 mutant things. Having to re-level them is pretty annoying, even if the levels are fast. In this case I was close enough to home to run and find things I could kill (the tier 3-4 stuff near the next city would one shot my medic and scout), but I don't want to know what happens later when I can't run back to the newb zone in five minutes.
Also, I don't get how adding squad members works. I added my old ones in an order and it stuck. I add my mutants in the same order (tank, medic, scout) and they wind up scout/tank/medic every time. Which just messes with my "which number is healing" memory in my old age.

You can drag and drop skills at least.

50% special on steam today. Somewhat tempted, don't mind an ARPG which sounds pretty close to it's rogue-like roots, but I don't see any indication about the gameplay actually being fun.

This is almost exactly where I stand on it right now. Spent too much on games I won't get to already.
