Never have gotten the whole "weird to be weird" vibe from Wes Anderson's films. Just seems like pretentious shite.

I don't think he does Weird to be Weird. The guy is genuinely... eccentric maybe? No interview or whatever I've seen makes me think he's trying to be weird... it's just that he's a little weird. the dude is a huge french film nut, which really comes through in his films.

(I'll say that Wes Anderson is one of my favorite modern directors.)

I love his movies.  Bummed it is only opening in NY/LA tomorrow as I really want to see this.

Finally opened here. If you like WA's movies, you will like this one as it is a pretty pure distillation.  Amazingly the movie hangs on the performances of two kids who are in their first movie.

Watched this last night. I really enjoyed it. I think it really captured that feel of being a kid and going on an adventure/escaping.

I do like Wes Anderson movies though. So, YMMV.
