When I heard the words "What's up, doc?" uttered in that voice, I knew that my new mission in life would be to find the people responsible at the WB and stab them in the face repeatedly.

I want to find the reprehensible skinsack that created this, rip out his eyeballs and SKULLFUCK him until his still-living body lies quivering before me attempting to cry out of his now empty eyesockets. There is no hell big enough to hold his travesty.

`Wow, what a great way to take the classic Looney Tunes franchise that has been huge with audiences for decades and bring it into the new millennium.'"

See, that's what I have a problem with.  Why do these people feel the need to "bring something into the new millenium" at all?  Why the hell can't classic things just stay, uh, classic?  If we must have them remade, why not remake them truer to the spirit of the original?

I didn't think the new Looney Toones version was either bad or good.  In fact, I had little reaction at all.  I would have loved to have hated them, since that would have at least been something.  Instead I just thought, "Meh."  I hate the endless recycling of what were once the products of excellent creativity into ever more drab media to babysit the younger generation.

Just wait, if it ever catches on you'll have new legions of kids telling you this isn't the real Bugs Bunny.

I don't see a problem with the new look for the looney toons bunch, and heck, they won't even be named the same.

Cranky bastards.

I thought they were cute, too, Kidder... but I know when I'm beat.  I'm weak and have decided it's in my best interest to hate them as aggressively as possible.

Yes, I am cranky :)  I was seriously into Looney Tunes as a kid.  I suppose it's a little like having the church you got married in torn down to make way for a gas station.  Of course we still have the existing cartoons, so that's not a perfect analogy ...

Personally, I don't hate them.  I do hate that we have to have nonstop, mediocre retreads of existing entertainment properties.  Why couldn't they just have made a new bunch of characters in that same futuristic style without mention of Looney Tunes?  Or the contrapositive:  new, trendier characters with the same retro artstyle as the old cartoons?  Or (gasp!) a completely new cartoon altogether?

Originality is passe.  Long live the endless cloning of other people's imagination!

I see this shite as nothing more than Warner Bros. trying to protect the soon to be expiring copyrights on their flagship characters like Bugs Bunny by retreading them into the stupidest-looking piece of animated drivel since hentai. The fact that they've given Bugs Bunny the name "Buzz" and Dirty Harry's voice just completes the childhood raping.

Maddox should have his own TV show. I'm not sure when the man hasn't spoken the truth (edit: Err...Or maybe I just haven't read him enough?).

If the show's just another goofy gimmick to keep with the same Looney Tunes sense of humor, great
Even the Looney Tunes don't have the Looney Tunes sense of humor.

Does anyone know if there is a DVD compilation of old UNEDITED WB cartoons? With all the racist crap in it still? It's not /right/ but it was funny. I'd love to have the originals and never watch any WB cartoons on broadcast tv.

We can all say "that's all folks" to the original vision for Loonatics, WB's futuristic, anime version of the beloved Looney Tunes characters, thanks to an 11-year-old boy. Fifth-grader Thomas Adams found the WB's concept art to be too dark and menacing, doing an injustice to the characters he had come to love. After starting a website and tallying 80,000 signatures in support of his endeavor, Adams got the WB's ears to perk up. Instead of the pointy-eared, dark anime-like characters WB envisioned, they're now dumbing them down to softer, less scary versions. All of this before the cartoon aired even one episode, scheduled to debut this fall among the Kids' WB! programs.

From Warner Bros. Animation, "Loonatics Unleashed," an all-new action packed, comedy-adventure series set seven hundred years in the future, stars an ensemble cast of six superheroes who are descendants of the Looney Tunes. Series will debut on Kids' WB! in fall 2005. (L to R): Lexi Bunny, Rev Runner, Tech E. Coyote, Ace Bunny, Danger Duck, Spaz B. Wilde (Photo: Business Wire)

I don't know which I dislike more. The original anime-style looks like some network exec said "Make them look X-treme!!" but these new ones just look boring. Plus shouldn't the coyote be trying to eat the roadrunner instead of standing next to him like they're pals?

I forgot what this thread was about- I thought it was about the new Diet Coke with Splenda (which isn't half-bad, actually- much better than regular DC).

Holy shit, I can't believe I missed that the first time around.  My kids came upstairs and wondered why i was laughing so hard.  Truly, it is art.

No, they're Extreme, but they're also PC.  Hunting and killing just because someone's another species is wrong. They're pals now, time for hugs and Mt. Dew!
