Looks somewhat interesting. Small (solo?) development team, a focus on piloting rather than the economics and fleets that discouraged me from messing with X3. Looks like the developer has been iterating on the same title for a while.

On steam special (-50%) today.

Looks Freelancer-esque almost.  The 68/100 metacritic worries me though.

likewise... though if it's a single indie developer that's still not bad. The demo download is 219mb (which apparently is the same size as the full game).

I did search... possibly missed it because he misspelled mercenary.

In any case this is not a game you can pick up and make a quick decision about, the tutorial is dense... but it does look interesting.

I tried so hard to like this game but the learning curve and completely fucked UI (menus nested within menus nested within other menus, and some of them get too small and have text cut off!) was just too much for me to get past, especially since the game seemed to provide no incentive or Things to Look Forward To for me to want to keep throwing myself at the learning curve, unlike X3 or even EVE.

The website has a demo version and is a small download. The tutorial is like a "how not to do it". Sit in space while an immense info-dump is read to you with little context of why you should care. Followed by some intro missions (dock here! dock there! dock in a box!) which are zzzzzz.
