OK, this looks fun. "Wreck-It Ralph" tells the story of a 9-foot tall, 643-pound video game villain (voiced by John C. Reilly) who spends his days destroying buildings in a "Rampage" style game. His nemesis is the games' titular hero, "Fix-It Felix" (Jack McBrayer), who cleans up Ralph's destruction and gets the glory. Frustrated by decades of playing the villain, Ralph ventures out into the arcade's other games to show that he can be a hero too.

In addition to Reilly and McBrayer, the film will feature the voices of Jane Lynch as a sergeant in a Halo-like first-person shooter and Sarah Silverman as a race car driver from a candy-themed cart racing game. We can also expect a parade of cameos from classic video game characters (including Bowser from "Super Mario Bros." and a ghost from "Pac-Man"). "Futurama" vet Rich Moore directs the film, out in theaters Nov. 2nd.

French site with some early concept art.

I'm intrigued, if anything for the video game tie-ins and whatnot.  Surprisingly there's no trailer, although they apparently took the time to build a fake-arcade cabinet to showcase it at a recent convention.

I don't think she's supposed to be Kerrigan... the game she's in is clearly a nod to Gears of War.

Saw the trailer to this before Brave and was psyched. Looked up the director and saw he directed many of the best episodes of golden-age Simpsons and was supervising director for all of the Fox-era Futurama and am now super-psyched.

My cynical prediction is that this will be great but considered a financial failure ala Scott Pilgrim.

Brave was beautiful, but the story was shit.

Very solid movie, I didn't predict the turn near the end and was pleasantly surprised.  Most of the movie takes place in the made up "sugar rush" game which I though would bother me but didn't.  Does follow some disney tropes but a well made movie so you dont mind.

Didn't it look fun as hell? Loved it. Sarah Silverman was awesome. My soon-to-be 4 year old was quite concerned about 2/3rds of the way through, even said he didn't like the movie. He LOVED the end though, and was very enthusiastic about the movie as a whole afterward. So fun to see kids discover the joy of well made movies.

#1 at the box office this weekend, just shy of $50M.  Destroyed everything else at the box, and set a record for Disney Animation (NOT fucking Pixar).

I must go see it this weekend.

Sarah Silverman was awesome.

Yeah she did, I normally hate Sarah Silverman but didn't even realize it was her until I read this.  Seems obvious now that I think about the voice.

Movie was cute and I enjoyed all the video game references but over-all I'd only give it 3 1/2 out of 5.  It doesn't have the memory moments of some of the classics for me and there were some odd plot holes that turned in to "Refrigerator Moments" for me.

I recognized Silverman and it made that character grate on me a little.  I've never enjoyed her stuff  as it always felt weird in the desperate 'look at me' way of Tom Green instead of the 'weirdness sake' way of Steve Martin or Bill Murray.

Oh.. and Sugar Rush is just a rip-off of Mario Kart, you heathens! Though I liked the randomization of the lineup feature.

Sugar Rush is totally Mario Kart, complete with Rainbow Road, still want to play it though.

And Vanellope even looks a lot like a cartoony Silverman.

Fix it Felix Jr is a complete homage on donkey kong, hell Ralph even looks like DK.  I don't think it's a matter of Disney being unable to get Nintendo licenses as Bowser is in the movie, it's that they didn't want it to be a movie ABOUT Nintendo.  Having Ralph be DK or having sugar rush be mario cart would have tied their hands in a creative way, it's not a matter of them just making knock-off games.

For those that can see the parallels the movie has some great and intentional homages even excluding the direct cameo's.

I thought it was more like Crazy Climber-

Although Ralph himself was a Donkey Kong surrogate for sure.

I was a little disappointed that there weren't more classic arcade game references. Or maybe I just missed the ones that were there.

For half the movie I was confused why "Going Turbo" was a bad thing.  Probably because Zangief brought it up first so I kept thinking "Street Fighter: Turbo?  That's a horrible thing in this world? Why?"
