I know that it's stupid that this makes me sad... but this was a part of my childhood.

Davy Jones Dies at 66

If nothing else, he may be responsible for David Bowie having the name he does.

They should do his burial at sea.  The monkees were one of the first bands I remember as a kid.

Now I'm sad.  I loved the Monkeys, and Davy was my favorite.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

Never liked this boy band's music or Davy's solo career. However, that is because it was never my cup of tea, musically speaking. They did have a huge following though, so godspeed little man.

This is sad. The Monkees was the first real music-tv show I can remember watching.

"Boy Band" or not, they had some hits that are still pretty catchy today. I shall now anoy my co-workers by playing some in tribute.  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

They also let Hendrix open for them.

66 is too young, especially for someone who didn't exactly have any of the typical rock and roll vices.  As I told my girlfriend "I dated someone almost that age!" and I was a big fan of them when I was young so it's hitting closer than a certain other celebrity who recently passed...

My old man saw Hendrix open for the Beach Boys...both really weird combos.

Loved that song. Yes, the Monkees were a formulaic band put together by record executives, but they still wrote some catchy tunes and were entertaining. Sad about his passing.
