For those of you that don't know, two of the best Magic players (ever!) played eachother in the semi-finals of Pro Tour Honolulu. The 5 games were better than anything else televised during the event. I was watching Finkel play when I was younger and following his success and Kibler is arguably my favorite player these days. Finkel is the guy who had that Alyssa Brezzneasomethingsomething treat him like shit on Gizmodo. Turns out he may be coming back to Magic in a very serious way since he's - you know, fucking rich and all. Anyway, watch the goddamn games. It shows you why I love Magic about a million times more than any other game involving cards, boards, or dice. Also, it's 2 hours long, so open it in a new window: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jedseuxEvxkAlso, this is fucking amazing: (Hitler gets the results of PT Honolulu) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QdwFDndfGk

Finkel needs to just shave his head or something, that is such a bad looking bald spot. (Watching the match now)

Downfall video was great.
Kibler versus Finkel is essentially Ali-Frasier, for those that don't follow the Pro scene.

You call it an accident. I call it justice.

I tried. I did... But I have no clue how this card game works so trying to follow it was impossible. I'll take your words for it.

You can just browse the rule book quick for an idea of whats going on. http://www.wizards.com/magic/comprules/MagicCompRules_20120201.pdfIt's only 192 full pages long currently. (But yeah, it would be impossible to follow if you're not a player. I know the rules very well and I still had a hard time following some of it just because I'm not familiar with all of the current cards they are playing.)

Okay, the "greatest top eight of a pro tour event" they were doing?
Chicago had Kai, Finkel, Kibler and Zvi? Bob Maher was ninth? lulz.

Finkel's name rings a bell. If so, it's the guy that was in one of Baxter's MTG books 16 years ago - which makes me feel old. Millstone deck off my head.
Was also one of the earliest pro-tour players?

Actually got around to finishing watching this. I don't know that I can ever watch a Kibler match again if he always shuffles his cards in hand like that.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_FinkelHe's an MTG badass. From the gizmodo article: "The next day I Googled my date and a wealth of information flowed into my browser. A Wikipedia page! Competition videos! Fanboy forums comparing him to Chuck Norris! This guy isn't just some professional who dabbled in card games at a tender age. He's Jon motherfucking Finkel, the man who is so widely revered in the game of Magic that he's been immortalized in his own playing card." The Jon Finkel Facts are fairly amusing: http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=104597

Oh yeah... If you want to be entertained for a while, google "Finkel" and "gizmodo". It was a typical internet tempest in a teacup, with everyone up to CBS, the Washington Post, and Forbes weighing in on it.... Finkel's "day job", if you don't count pro MTG Hall of Famer or the professional level poker tournaments, is hedge fund manager. Amongst others, Felicia Day came to his defense. And for visual entertainment, I give you a picture of Seth Green's wife Clare Grant, who is an MTG nerd: Edit: NSFW (Very, as in Nude) pic:

Pics behind spoilers load before you open them. Let's keep that in the T&A thread. Turned it into a link.
