A warning in advance: although I consider the instructions pretty straight-forward, you are going to be doing some things that others would consider "rocket science." Don't cry to me if this procedure melts down your machine, house, or domesticated pets.
I just did the procedure myself, and it works. It's not necessarily pretty when launching, but nothing 'breaks', and the overlay works (I PM'd Ruv and Ingmar in-game to test).
Just a little something in case you really need your Steam fix while in-game.
