The 2nd victim seems to be the guy who shot the cop in the first place. He apparently fled the scene of the traffic stop where he shot the cop then shot himself.

VT is a weird place. I don' t know if any of you have been there, but it's in the middle of a field. You drive by cows on the way. Blacksburg is a tiny, tiny town filled with locals who hate any and all college-age people. There's nowhere to 'escape' the pressure of the school and classes. I have several friends who went and I visited them fairly regularly when they were attending (I didn't get accepted, sadface) A lot of fucked up shit goes down that doesn't get national attention. I'll just cut/paste this lovely summary. It's that time of year again, something's happened involving murder and Virginia Tech. Since this seems to have become a trend, i think it's time I do a small write up on all that's happened.
Sammus' Brief History of Murder and Virginia Tech
August 21, 2007. William Morva, an eccentric 24 year old who lived in the woods and went everywhere barefoot, got arrested the prior night for attempting to break into a store. He didn't even get in. But, he faked an injury during the arrest, then took control of a gun in the hospital and shot a hospital staff worker and a security guard before fleeing into the woods. He later shot another police officer, then hid less than 100 yards away for hours until he was found. That was my first day of college. Since we all got the day off, I went to a kegger.
April 16, 2007. I don't really need to say much about this one, 32 people were killed and 25 others wounded by deranged english major Seung-Hui Cho. Fuck that guy, moving along.
January 21, 2009. Ok, so nothing happened in 2008 that I remember. But 2007 had a lot going on, and so does 2009. Chinese exchange student Haiyang Zhu got fed up with life or was rejected or something, so he grabbed fellow chinese student Xin Yang by the hair inside of Au-Bon-Pain in the Graduate Center and cut her head off before being arrested. Literally cut that fucker off. Apparently he had 9+ knives in his backpack.
August 27, 2009. This is, in my opinion, the craziest shit. There was very little in the news about it, and thanks to knowing locals who work with the police, I got to hear more to the story. If you drive 5 minutes from Virginia Tech in any direction, you're going to be in the middle of no where, instantly. And throughout this beautiful no where, there are hundreds of hiking trails, camp sites, and outdoor recreation areas. It's awesome. One such camp area is Caldwell Fields, it's a really nice camping area with a small stream running by it surrounded by forests with a pair of fields off to the side, thus the name. 19-year-old David Metzler, and 18-year-old Heidi Childs were brutally tortured there during the night before being shot in their heads and left in their car. I mean brutally tortured. Closed casket funeral shit, their fingernails were pulled out, they were cut,it was really fucked up. No one was ever caught, but it's suspected to be a local.
October 17, 2009. Morgan Dana Harrington. Everyone has heard that name, since she was a missing white girl on the news. She went to Charlottesville (so this one is really on UVA and not VTech) with some friends, and after leaving early, she was raped and murdered and left in the woods by someone who's DNA is linked to like 11 other rapes up and down the East Coast. She died a very violent death, as bones were broken. Her remains weren't found until January 2010.
