So, I've finally made my way out of 2002 and joined the streaming age.  Right now, the only service I have is Amazon Prime as I was a member for free shipping.  I just want to vet a couple of TV series before I decide to jump in from the Amazon selection.

Right now, I'm making my way through Torchwood and DS9...  because I heard both get much better as the series go on.  I vaguely remember watching the first couple of seasons of DS9 when it was broadcast.

Are any of these any good, or hold up at all?

MI-5
Numbers
24
Arrested Development, season 3 (I loved the first season, but I dropped the show in the second)
Top Gear

The menu format is literally so terrible that I'm still discovering things that might be interesting, as it seems to randomly generate what it's offering you each time you click "more".  The same TV series will show up on multiple menus, sometimes no where near the other seasons, with little rhyme nor reason.  I mean, maybe Amazon really wants me to watch Twilight Zone season 3 as that shows up every friggin page.

There's a pile of classic Who on Prime, but I'm not sure I could handle the terrible effects and people repeatedly running down identical corridors...

Arrested Development, definitely!  But, re-watch 1 and then go through 2.   I believe it's all free on Prime.

IFC played it all weekend and on the Nth watch, I was still laughing my arse off!

Numbers is an "If it's on and there's nothing else on" kind of watch.. Not bad, but nothing I'd go out of my way to watch.

I have prime through my Roku box, and, yeah, I ended up surfing the Web site to find stuff to watch, then searching for it on roku.  I agree, the UI is assy..

For me classic Dr. Who falls into the 'comfort TV' category. Normally I want something more modern, with slightly better attention to production, but sometimes you just want Tom Baker warbling on about dorky science while besting an arrogant cardboard overlord of some sort. Its possible that you have to suffer through an drama class in Jr. High (form 4) to really get the charm of it.

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

I watched alot of old Who pre-16 on PBS, so I've seen almost all of the old episodes that were in color.

Tried to go back and watch some of the Baker era stuff last year (the terribly fake robot steals disintegrator, sontaran something or other, the Ark one) and gave up a couple episodes into Genesis of the Daleks.  Sarah Jane was getting captured, the Doctor and the idiot Navy guy were getting captured, they were running up and down the same corridors, and they shot at the (in)famous quarry where all '70s British scifi shows shot at.

If you already remember most of the good bits, it makes it harder to deal with the not good bits.  The Doctor should have had a child leash for Sarah Jane at the rate she tended to wander off and get captured.

That was a great scifi show, with a really great cast.  It's too bad it canned, as it looked like they were moving towards doing things that TV rarely touches...  like a time war/change war situation where the future is constantly being changed by what happens in the present (except for the constants of Skynet/Human resistance leader).

Just watched the first season of Better Off Ted, which was wonderful.  Caught a few of the episodes back when it was on TV, but it always ran early in the night during tax season, so missed most of it.  Heard that season 2 is disappointing.

Nerdy white scientist:  "So, if we drop the...  bunny... from 30,000 feet every-"
Little girl: "YOU'RE DROPPING A BUNNY FROM AN AIRPLANE"
Ted: "No sweetheart, bunny is just a word we're using"
Nerdy white scientist: "The bunny should...  cuddle... everyone within a two mile radius.  People within a 10 mile radius would be severely...  snuggled."

Yah, Better Off Ted season 2 lost the magic.  There was a spark in season one that made everything work,  and be quirkily hilarious.  Also, the writers forgot how to write Ted.  I watched three episodes of Season 2 and barely chuckled.

Watched the first couple episodes of Torchwood: Children of the Earth.  Very good so far.

Top Gear is the one series that can leave me with tears running down my eyes from laughing so hard. They have a way of making fun of themselves that's very appealing, even if I don't particularly care about cars.

If you can read this, you're on a board populated by misogynist assholes.

Children of the Earth was good, BUT GOD JESUS FUCK AMAZON!  I thought the menu system was bad, but I'm almost certain that Amazon streaming is powered by the despair of it's viewers in trying to find the series they want to watch.

Each screen seems to be populated semi-randomly, and not give a shit about whether the choices are in any way related to each other....  and then, certain series, they seem to be hidden so that it takes minutes of scrolling through the menu before they magically appear while the menu repeatedly bombards you with "Mister Rogers, season 9".  Also, the predominance of "H2O, Just add water" leads me to believe that the major Amazon target demographic is pedophiles.

While looking for Children of the Earth, I discovered that Farscape (all seasons, except season 1 which is probably traumatized and hiding) are available as well as Jekyll....  and the Eccelston and Tenant years of Who.

Is Jekyll (Moffat show) any good?  I've seen previews that made it look interesting.  I'm thinking that I'll probably dive back in to DS9, though Season 3 is pretty slow... I really just want to jump to the beginning of the major Dominion War arcs and the return of A Man Called Hawk (in SPPPAAACCCE).

Having most of the recent Who seasons means I can cherry pick the great episodes....  rewatched Christmas Invastion (still good, doesn't she look tired?) and will probably watch Girl in the Fireplace, Blink, and Family of Blood.
