Huh. I had kind of written this one off just on the concept... a live-action Snow White movie? The trailer definitely made me interested. And yes, I hate Kristen Stewart, but only because she was in the Twilight movies. I didn't even know who that was by name until I saw the trailer.

I've been wanting a SrsBizness Snow White like this, but with the seven dwarves in it somehow.

I don't really hold the Twilight thing against her, it isn't like she wrote that character. Trailer looks pretty cool, but Alice in Wonderland made me go , so who knows really.

Twilight was just porn for females, I don't get the hate, it's like women talking about how bad Baywatch was. Well, duh.

I don't hold Twilight against Kristen Stewart but from what I've seen she isn't a good actress.

I don't hate her but I've always thought she was pretty plain looking. Kinda makes the whole "who's the fairest of them all" thing really not work for me in this movie. I can't roll my eyes enough at the idea that her looks are a threat to the Evil Queen. Looking at IMDB right now, the movie has a great cast (Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Nick Frost, Ian McShane, Bob Hoskins, and others), and they completely drop the ball on casting the lead in order to appeal to Twilight fans (you better believe they put the trailer for this on every print of Breaking Dawn).

I had to look her up. Beautiful, yes. Snow White looking? No. I agree with previous posters that KStew does not hold a candle to Charlize. Still, looks like a good movie romp.

Especially compared to the Julia Roberts evil queen in the other Snow White movie. She is just not even pretty any more. I think Mila Kunis would make an AWESOME evil queen.

I don't find her unattractive, but she's not on my 'zomg hottest evar' list.
But then I have a thing for redheads, & the dark hair shades (esp. black) and find blondes pretty ho-hum.

Charlize Theron being absolutely so so much hotter than Kristen Stewart completely throws the entire premise of Snow White out the window doesn't it? Any magic mirror that claims the opposite needs to be taken in for repairs immediately.

They sidestep the whole hotness issue making about the purity in her heart or some bullshit. The movie was trash from start to finish though, it had some cool special effects but nothing could salvage it.
There's one moment in the beginning, stewarts very first lines in the movie that are so out of place and jarring that they made no sense and had me scratching my head the entire night. After a bad intro of how things went down in the past, very stereotypical fantasy setting and everything, we are treated to snow white(a name so ridiculous no one ever actually calls her by her name, just princess) suddenly an adult with no mention of how she spent the last ten years(she was in a tower, poof adult!). While talking to what we are to presume are stick figure dolls of her parents...she recites the lord's prayer. You know "our father, who art in heaven" the whole thing!(I almost said the whole damned thing but that seems out of place) there is no mention of christianity in this movie anywhere else prior or after. Nothing at all suggests they are in the real world in any way yet her first line is the lords prayer? It's almost as if they were going to go with a qausi-religious movie and then someone said "you better cut that shit out" because there was nothing more about it.
Frankly I would have been fine if they did something about the crusade or mirrored a joan of arc story but the didnt, they just left that little bit hanging over the entire movie and while the rest of the movie was also shit, that one part just hangs over it, a confusing and bitter cherry on top.

It wasn't bad. Not good in anyway, but not bad. It's an adequate summer film. Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth keep things moving along and do their best to counterbalance Kristen Stewart's single expression. Her braveheart speech was one of the more inexplicably derpy things I've seen on film recently. The thing that really got me were the seven dwarves. Why not actual real small people? I get that hobbits are improbably small, but really there was no good reason here. They also wasted a fair bit of talent there, notably Bob Hoskins and Ian McShane. Heck, all but one of the dwarves was recognizable.

Werent there actually 8 Dwarves? Could have sworn I read that in a magazine review about the movie somewhere. Same review also said that the Director wants to somehow attempt to turn the movie into a TRILOGY, and my mind just kind of went WTF?

The reason they don't use actual dwarves for these things is if the thing was successful they want to actually use the actors for other films. So they spend millions making tall actors look small so they don't have to make Willow again.
