Thoughts? I'm wondering how the PC controls look.

I didn't discover that the game was infected with Securom until I'd already installed it.  And yes, GFWL also sucks massively.

Personally, I didn't like it as much as the original Fable, but $15.00 is a fair price for it in my opinion.  It's not horrible or anything.

The control is a bit awkward on the PC, but the game is pretty easy, so it's never too frustrating.

I haven't had any GFWL problems with Warhammer 40k.. I don't get the complaints.

So far, Fable hasn't bothered me other than setup.

You must be a lucky one, GFWL is why I didn't play Dawn of War online.  Had too many issues with it and gave up.

Its slow. Its faults out frequently. You can not play your game if you can not connect. It's a second account system for a game on steam. The download system is a secondary program that errors out constantly (GFWLM). Meaning any GFW game you buy on steam needs three programs running, four for DRM. The error codes do not appear in the knowledge base. Its Microsoft, getting anyone on the phone won't happen, in fact the MS web page that says "get live support+Phone icon" redirected to the same knowledge base over and over. Having a second friends list is bullshit. Having to use steam granted keys in it is Bs. It makes no distinction between a funny hat DLC and an expansion pack, the versions are different so you can't connect. It sucks up ram like water, and thrashes your net. It insists on using IE as a browser. You have to click 30 clicks to do ANYTHING.

You also sign away your first born.

I wouldn't have bought it if I knew about the GFWL thing, but I do like the game, so it's not like I'm going to stop playing it. The damage is done.

GFWL is annoying to use, but I never had a single problem with it other than shitty interface/in-the-way-let-me-get started annoyances. No bugs, no hangs, etc. It's just a Windows interface into XBox Live - same friends list etc.

I'm sure it works great on the Xbox.  Ohhhhh, I see.

Never got into the Fable series...mostly because of the whole "PC gets sloppy seconds" stance from Lionhead, and after having played B&W and B&W2, my believe that they can put out games that go above being 'passing' is gone.

But try and convince me...what makes Fable a better game than other RPGs?

Honestly, the main thing Fable has going for it is the humor and the voice acting dialogue.

Nothing, but the humor, world, and art are top notch. Its a RPG lite that does not try to take itself seriously. With a lite slathering of "sims" like systems on top. One of my favorite quests so far has been "The game". The Voice overs in this are side-splitting at times. Combat is rather fun too.

My favorite so far is that your butler is voiced by John Cleese, and you have to change into a chicken suit to corral chickens.

"You’re... you’re dressed as a chicken. What are you... what are you planning to do... dressed as a chicken?"

The repressed british horror in his voice is brilliant.

For me, it's character customization.  You can give your character a bunch of outfits, and mix and match, rather than just choose which type of plate mail they wear.  You can be a righteous hero or an annoying ass.  You can change your basic physical appearance by levelling up your attributes, and your appearance actually changes as a result of stuff you do in the game.  You can buy houses and marry and have kids and deal in real estate and side businesses.  And on top of all that, you can still go off and do your heroic adverturer schtick, slaying monsters and rescuing damsels and so forth.  There's not a lot of RPGs where you have both kinds of gameplay represented (though to be fair, neither is very deep in Fable), and when they are, they're usually butting heads with each other (the whole dilemma between wearing a powerful suit of armor, or wearing one that looks cool but has horrible stats).
