Planes? Shit, I'm terrified to get in my car now!

http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/09/27/itv-documentary-cant-tell-the-difference-between-gaming-and-reality-mistakes-arma-2-for-secret-ira-film/

In a serious documentary about Ghadaffi's support for the IRA, ITV show some footage, labelled "IRA film 1988", and claim it shows IRA shooting down a helicopter with a heavy machine gun supplied by Ghaddaffi.

Except it isn't. It's ArmA2.

ITV haven't commented yet. Possibly because they haven't worked out how to use telephones because they're gibbering retards.

The IRA didn't have camouflaged vehicles either, that's retarded.  Though a golfer did take down an army helicopter in Armagh by accident once (or so the story goes) and the stuff about Libyan arms is real enough.

Edit to add, they do appear to have taken at least two helicopters down 20th March 1994 & 17 February 1978

Double edit, the video they meant to show.

Well, we are getting close to photo realistic. In a decade you will need an expert analysis to tell real and in-game footage apart. This is not surprising, after all humanity put a lot of effort to get there - from electronic and chip design, to software and graphical engine... I'd say if this effort was spent elsewhere we'd have permanent base on marks or abundant clean and renewable energy by now.

Have you *looked* at the video? It's really, really not photorealistic.

It's poor journalism, nothing else.

I have looked at it, and as a gamer I can easily recognize it as such. On other hand, non-gamer, especially from older generation, may not. Still, new titles (BF3 and so on) come close to where *I* would have trouble telling them apart.
