WHY THE FUCK doesn't this have a semi-wide US opening. I want to see it now, not wait until late September.

I saw this about a year ago in Australia. It's a visual feast which makes it worth seeing, but the storytelling is incoherent and jumps around between major scenes, with the sudden introduction of key new characters and assumed knowledge (it's a well-known story in China).

The subtitles at the cinema I attended were hilarious. One character's name is Donkey Wang, which had the teenagers present (and me) laughing all the time. And there's a conversation where one character asks about an underground location "what's it like in there?" and the reply subtitle says "It's a spooky pandemonium."

DRILLING AND MANLINESS  Damn, that looks awesome.  And I do love me some Tsui Hark.  I'd have to hop a flight to Minneapolis if i want to see it on the big screen, though.

Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats.
