10.  Malevolent Mammals - Proudft (0 points, 0-0-2, 1 casualty inflicted)

Day three matches
Waitsing (Avaia) 0 vs. 3 Breaking Wind (Llyse)
Goat Variations (Ruvaldt) 0 vs. 1 Lovers, Fighters (Lamaros)
Triptkyon (HaemishM) 0 vs. 2 Green Bray Alpacas (IainC)
Mad Goat Disease (Strazos) 1 vs. 2 Malevolent Mammals (Proudft)
Sheep Go To Heaven (Ingmar) 1 vs. 0 Los Stupicabras (Gruntle)

Be sure to read up on the league's rules regarding skills.  You have a lot of leeway in skill selection, but there are still some standards that beastmen must meet when levelling up or a team could be invalidated.

League Rules

I used the official f13 rankings to arrange the calendar and was able to arrange the matches in such a way that no one plays each other twice.  Once we (hopefully) enter the second season I'll be using a different seeding method based only upon past performance within the Hooves & Horns matches.

Games that have been played in previous weeks

The remaining season's calendar

If you would like to submit your matches to BBManager's Horns & Hooves League, the password is Goatse.

The lovers luck rolls on. Linda got her fifth casualty as well as MVP, and now has claw to go with MB.

I won the toss and elected to recieve, hoping my block and MB players could weed Ruvaldt's forces and give me an advnatage going in to the second half. It didn't work out all that well, with mostly KOs coming my way, but I got one player off and scored late in the half. Ruvaltd got all his KOs back in his 8th turn, but thankfully he failed a block and KOed another in that turn as well, which handed me a 10 to 9 player advantage going in to the second.

This helped me block his flow forward and his attempt to break free after I set up a bashing line failed (a push block let him down), so I knocked the ball free from his carrier's hands. From there I tried to stall it and knock more goats down, but he nearly nicked a draw with some brave play in the end, only to have nuffle play the odds and slap him down. An attempt to make it 2-0 in the final few turns was foiled by some poor attempts to pick up the ball on my behalf.

The stats don't say my luck was especially good, but I had the fortune of nearly every block I threw having a defender down or defender pushed in it even if the other was a skull or otherwise. 72% success (53/74) against Ruvaldt's 50% (21/42) tells the story there.

I rolled quite a few 1s (7 from 18) which was part of the reason it stayed interesting right to the end, but my block dice shaded that for importance overall.

Goat Variations 0 - 1 Lovers, Fighters

I kept it competitive to the very end, but the Goats were ultimately ground down into the dust.  Lamaros played a good game and after an early numbers disadvantage I had a hard time snapping back.  For the last four rounds, or so, we were both at the edges of our seats as Cold Water pulled off a terrific ball pick-up and set up a toss for an upcoming round, but he was subsequently KOed and after that my chances just continued to deteriorate.  I'm happy to limp away from this one with a single permanent injury of -AV, but also a level up from an MVP so the dark cloud does have a silver lining.

I'm in the US but may be able to play. I don't yet know if the computer at my father-in-law's place can run BB as I can't log into my Steam account (and thus can't install BB) until I can get back into my Google account (see the thread in General Discussion about that). As soon as I know whether I can play I'll post to let you know.

Sheep Go To Heaven 1 - Los Stupicabras 0

Pretty unremarkable game, although Gruntle did roll a rather large number of 1s on GFIs.

Los Stupicabras lose to Ingmar's Sheep Go To Heaven, 0 to 1.

I chose to receive and Ingmar had a perfect kick that landed across the goal line which I was unable to pick up (didn't throw a reroll at it) for a few turns, but when i finally did Ingmar knocked it free with some goats that had slipped my line and it was thrown back into his backfield, where he proceeded to pick it up and run it back (on a turn where all my goats were knocked down, the blitzing positioned ones stunned so Ingmar didn't realize it was his turn until the clock had almost run out -- he still remembered to walk it in for a point though). Kick off event had the ref run the clock out so i wasn't close to scoring but i took the opportunity to pass the ball and get a goat his sixth spp (and the first level on my team).
Second half Ingmar had a few UI issues; for some reason i had 12 guys out to his 11; an unintended dodge misclick resulted in a casualty; and his wrong goat selection ended up being a weird pushing on the sidelines blitz instead of a straightforward push out block. But I was continuing to fail GFIs (6 failed!) and so wasn't doing much to stop his drive, eventually getting the ball in my own backfield but not managing to toss it out to the one goat in scoring position.

Ingmar leveled 1 goat (block?) and I leveled two (Foul Appearance & Dodge[doubles]) bring us both to 2 level 2 players total. One of his goats was killed however, and another may need to be put down (apoth only offered to maim the 0 spp goat in another manner).

The good news is that it looks as though I can run BB on the PC here. It will run like molasses but it will actually load. However, as I'm visiting I won't be as glued to the PC as I would be at home so randomly pinging me (or even finding me) on Steam is unlikely to work. I'm in a GMT-7 timezone and I'll check my PMs here a couple of times a day. I'll be able to play after about 7pm most evenings.

Malevolent Mammals 2-1 over Mad Goat Disease.   There were two key lucky moments here for the Mammals, I will let Strazos complain about them.  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

I finally had a guy level and got overly excited at the Mutation menu and picked Claw.  Which won't be terribly useful against all these beastmen, whoops.

First half I made a smooth march up the pitch. I scored a bit early, either because Proud was getting the rolls necessary to threaten the ball (manged to 1d blitz it out once already after dodging into a sideline cage) or I thought I'd try to score again.

Anyway, he proceeded to get the necessary rolls to trot one in late. In the second half, I thought I had him bottled up, with markers on the carrier multiple times, but he managed to get the blocks he needed. Even after escaping, I tried multiple times to either pick up the ball or blitz his solo carrier down, and was greeted with straight 1s and skulls. Even my one KO'ed goat couldn't get up after I bought 2 bloodweisers.

Triptkyon 0 - Green Bray Alpacas 2

This was a game of dice that rolled wrong at the wrong times. Statistically, my dice weren't that bad, only when I got bad dice it was usually at the worst possible times. Both halves started with my block dice requiring a reroll. The 2nd half dice rerolled to a turnover. I made many questionable decisions that only got more questionable as the tide went against me. I got the first kickoff but didn't pick it up quick enough. He got blitzers in on the ball and by the time I could get to the ball, I screwed up the pickup roll and left it out in the open for him to score. The 2nd TD came in much the same way except he got the kickoff and threw it down to my side of the field. I could have potentially scored on the last turn but had to free my ball carrier and try to get a pass off. I made a risky 1D block to try to free up a blitzer deep but that first block of the turn failed and the game was over at that point. We each inflicted 1 injury on the other, and both got 2 level ups. I now have a beastman with extra arms and one with guard.

It was pretty much what Haemish said. I put pressure on the ball early and was rewarded with a fast touchdown for my trouble. The second drive was more drawn out with Haemish forming a cage and trying to keep the ball safe. I broke it out and almost cored a second on the last turn of the half - I just needed a dodge and an uncontested pickup to score. I made the dodge but fluffed the pickup.

Second half was eventful. I was pretty thoroughly marked all around so I threw the ball downfield but missed the receiver. After some scrambling around I got a goat free, picked up the ball and then walked in a second on turn 13. Haemish tried some Elven bullshit in a desperate attempt to score a consolation touchdown before the end of the game but I ganked any goat that strayed into GFI range of my endzone and held him for long enough to keep the score at 2-0.

The stats show that the luck was about even. I leant a bit more heavily on dodge dice than Haemish and he relied a bit more on blocks but he tended to get turnovers at bad times for him as we were both burning through rerolls at a fair clip.

After the match I got a double on one goat so gave him Mighty Blow and a 10 on the second to level up and he got +1 AV.

Why bother with mighty blow on a double?  I agree with mighty blow, it's just that they have access to strength skills regardless.

The game can be played later.  I'll just roll the day over sometime today and let people play their matches.  If the match is still outstanding at the end of the season...well, I'm not sure what would happen so just don't do that.

Match has been played, goats maimed.

Short story is Avaia got the short end of the injury/armour rolls playing with 6 goats in the 2nd half while my only injury/KO of all match was a failed dodge/GFI with my key block goat.

He died, apothecary turned it into a -1 AV.

But 3-0 victory so top of the tables I stay  why so serious?
