With a headline like this it's bound to be everywhere in a few hours, but anyway .... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42887887/ns/us_news-weird_news/

Quote
witnesses reported Thompson standing near a neighbor's pygmy goat in a bedroom. He was wearing a bra and female underwear. The goat, a male named Bailey, had at least one stab wound.

Apparently bath salts are the new drug craze for meth users. Aka Ivory Wave, Bliss, and Hurricane Charlie.

http://bathsaltsdrug.com/ There's a site that reviews them and talks about the various highs. Read that if you want an eye-opener.

That youtube video on that page about Texas brought tears of laughter to my eyes. Not even sure why.

I had the other night:

Drunk ass goldie locks--he got drunk, wandered into someones house that wasn't locked and fell asleep on the couch, then got up and fell down the stairs when the owner came home, of course he is like 6' 8" and big, stumbling, and yelling.

An overdose by a guy who was deaf and mute, so he got activated charchoal and then got mad since we wouldn't give him pain meds and benzo's so he starts yelling and shits the bed.

84 year old lady with really bad dementia / alzhiemers and is deaf, so she keeps yelling "I gotta pee!"

43 year old female who is paranoid w/ active psychosis going on, due to drug abuse of meth and bath salts, and past history of mental illness, she kept hearing things in the room and starts wailing like a banshee stating her boy friend is coming to kill her with some chemicals they bought and take her id.

And then we get the 92 year old lady who is actively dieing, she has advanced stage COPD/CHF and her O2 sats are dropping and she is going to die soon, thank goodness the family made her a DNR, but they still had to listen to all the screaming and the cop taking down goldie locks when he got up and challenged the cop and our registration girl.

4 people screaming at once and one trying to die, I was so glad we had a good crew that night.  Goldie Locks went to jail after being cleared, the elderly lady went to comfort care w/her family (she lasted 3 more hours), the one with dementia went to a med bed for nursing home placement after some geodon and ativan, the overdose had to clean his mess up and then went to ICU, the poor psych lady had to wait for placement but she got geodon and ativan too.  That medicine rocks!

Bath salts are like a legal meth for now, it is a synthetic type that causes an euphoria that last about 4-6 hours, but has side effects that last 8, and has some crazy things that you can slip into when doing the drug.  It is another one that will mess with your dopamine receptors so you will never have a high as great and as long as the first, but will chase it from then on.  Pretty much another form of tweaking.

This isn't ED, Jimbo, but when I was a surgery intern we had a guy that had constipation for like a week.  Come to find a med student had tegadermed (fixed, for Strazos Ohhhhh, I see.) his ass shut.  You can imagine the "end result".   Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

They are chemicals sold as bath salts as a legal fig leaf.  Analogous to the legal marijuana substitutes sold as 'incense'.

I need to copy/paste Jimbo's post for all the pre-med students that have no clue what they're getting into.  I loved studying medicine, but the job of a physician sucks ass.

Oh mephedrone, it's just recently been banned here after being really popular among students and general clubbers for a while simply because it was legal. Knew a guy who funded his MSc selling it. I really didn't get the fuss, which is probably why I never really took to recreational drugs.

How I know I'm old. I had not heard of this at all.

A nation consists of its laws. A nation does not consist of its situation at a given time. If an individual's morals are situational, then that individual is without morals. If a nation's laws are situational, that nation has no laws, and soon isn't a nation.

I don't like the war on drugs, but I won't make all drugs legal, and if we do make some legal we need better testing to see if under the influence when driving.

I really don't like PCP, Meth, Bath Salts, Crystal Meth, Ice, Crank, Crack, Rhobo-tripping, Tripple C'ing, those fuckers hurt me, my friends & co-workers, and cause way to much damage and violence.

I really like the THC overdoses, they set there and giggle, then ask for food, then fall asleep.

What is really funny is that I have to take a 400 level course for my public health degree called Substance Abuse Education, lol I wonder if I'll have more experience in treating substance abuse than my professor  Grin

Another thing that blows my mind is most people now figure out you can't drink and drive, but how some people think taking narcotics or benzo's should be okay to get hammered on those and go driving all jellyfied.

We have massive meth campaigns in Georgia. It's absurd that people even do it down here, but whatever. They are obviously taking it on hardcore.

I would have thought any effects would have been lack of air due to trying to smoke a pound in a few minutes.

What is considered an "overdose"?

"Overdose" doesn't imply "fatal overdose", but you can definitely get more than you bargained for.  Passing out, like Jimbo says, or just being so loopy that you need to find someplace to sit down and hold on for dear life.

Wow, feet hurt and we had way to many crazy people overdosing or misusing stuff last night!  Started off with an overdose of klonipin, seriquil, and METH!  After she wrote a suicide note, she got so fucked up on those three she passed out and fell down the stairs, so we also have a possible spinal/head injury, made for one helluva ride.  She was a bucking bronco and had a GCS of 8, so she couldn't get under control with sedation so we ended up RSI'ing her and got her calmed down, then she seized! Fuck, have not seen someone take that much meth at once in a long time!  So she went to ICU, sad thing, no family ever came for her.  She is my age too, very pretty, but has the IV drug use look to her (infections from shooting up in arms, scars on her arms from trying to kill her self, bruises in various stages of healing, and a broken mind), even her friend who she was staying with didn't come to see her.

We had another that was drinking a bottle of wine in one hand, bottle of lisinipril in the other (HTN med), and was yelling at the cop that she wasn't going to stop drinking and once she was done she was gonna go shoot her husband (since he has 4 girl friends, "that bastard just came out and told me that!"), the police told her to put the pill bottle and wine bottle down, so she threw them down and charged the cop...go figure!  Another ICU admit.

My small town has the white trash or trailer park drugs, which is usually Methamphetamine and Marijuana, then probably huffing (mostly gold paint), prescription Rx abuse, and cheap psychdelic type drugs (mushrooms, banana peels, jimson weed, tripple C'ing or Robo-triping, or my favorite from towlie end dust huffing!).  They want a cheap drug that last a long time, oh cigarettes and alcohol are almost always done with these drugs sometimes, or they alternate between them.  End Dust huffing is the craziest!  It is like Russian roulette, you have like a 22% chance when you huff Dust Off or End Dust to just up and die!  Sweet odds.  Another thing is to do whippets from the whipped cream bottle, and here I just wanted to make bikini's out of whipped cream...

I'm noticing more and more misuse of prescription drugs, so the illegals were on a decline, especially with the restriction on sudafed, but now both are rising again.

A roommate I had in college used to love whippets, this is ~15 years ago so they aren't new at all.  Anyway, at a party he huffed a big balloon, turned a dark shade of blue, passed out for 30 seconds, had a couple of convulsions and then came too and seemed fine.  I took one look at that production and decided that whippets weren't in the cards for me.
