Not a bad deal if you're looking forward to DS3 like I am.  Loved the 1st one .  The 2nd one was kind of meh but not completely terrible. |

This is worth it just so you can play the Ultima remake on DS 1. |

I can't seem to get DS1 to work.  Looks like its not compatible with Windows 7. |

I actually liked DS1, until I had a part of the game bug out on me and become unpassable.
Hated on DS2 pretty hard, ESPECIALLY the arbitrary limit on group size - 4 members? Really? Not like I wanted to experiment with a lot of the skills trees anyway.

Loved DS1, was just HUGELY disappointed with DS2.  Part of what made DS1 great in my opinion was how light on story it was.  It was almost like "Yep, we're embracing the fact that this is a generic fantasy story, pick up a sword, some spells, and get to gettin'!"  DS2 took itself a little too seriously for me.  If I hear good things about DS3, I'll pick it up, but if its more DS2 and than DS1, I probably won't be that interested. |

I had the opposite reaction.  It bored me so hard I didn't finish.  It's rare I don't finish a game. |

Never played either of the DS games.  Only really interested in this one to see what Obsidian does with it, but I'm fairly hesitant to pre-order it. |

For DS3, console MP is jacked up and it will take some big hits in the reviews for it.  Seems as if anyone who joins a game is unable to advance, they're considered one-time helpers and don't get loot or XP.     |

The fact Obsidian is doing it is the only thing that is keeping me at all interested. Not pre-order interested, though. |

Maybe I am confusing Obsidian with the team that perpetrated KotoR II. |

Obsidian tends to give a lot of excuses for the state of their games.  I think Alpha Protocol was a combination of "just finish the fucking thing" and "focus group and corporate told us to do X" under the influence of the former situation.
I don't know what their excuse was for NWN2.

fake edit:  Only game if theirs I've disliked is NWN2.  I actually enjoyed Alpha Protocol despite how bad it is.

I liked NWN2 at the time, but I went back and tried to play it again recently and YEEEEEAARGH the voice acting is bad, and the writing isn't far behind. Not sure what happened there.
I might give the first expansion another try still, as I seem to recall really liking that one.

Yes, same here. DS1 was just an endless corridor with very dumb enemies and simple mechanics. The only fun I had in it was doing it solo (because the mobs were so exploitable) but even that wasn't fun for long. |

I recall a very bizarre leveling system where if you picked up some auto-cannons and insta-leveled, but your stats didn't. |

I can forgive NWN2 because the expansions were pretty good. Can you complete them separate from the main campaign?  Interesting if it's the same situation as NWN 1 where the base campaign was crap but you could just dive into SoU or HoU and actually play something decent. |

Yeah, they're stand alone. Well probably not stand alone installs, but you don't need to import a character or anything I don't believe. The interface will probably make you     going back to it now. |

Mask of the Betrayer is a level 20+ epic followup to the first game, but you don't need to continue for the first game, you can roll a brand new level 20.  It does however continue the story, although I don't remember any major connections to the first one.
Storm of Zehir is a completely new level 1 scenario, that's almost a throwback to older rpgs.  It's kinda hard for me to explain.  It's story light and exploration heavy though, but there aren't large dungeons in it for the most part.  I liked it more than most of the other NWN1+2 campaigns honestly, but they did try something a smidge different here.

For me, Storm of Zehir was a throwback to the Gold Box Series, complete with roaming the overland map and random encounters there.
I loved the Gold Box titles, so apart from the UI and the infuriating camera, I liked Storm of Zehir.

Well sure, but also done by a different studio and quite a few years old. This may be terrible, but it probably won't be terrible because of its heritage. |

Another case of pre-order regret.  The God damn camera destroys any chance I'll keep playing.  Can't zoom out far enough to see what's going on and can't zoom in close enough to get a bastardized first person view.  Controls are pretty wonky as well and you can't remap the key bindings.  Consolitis at its worst. |
