I've been waiting for something like this. I have a couple friends who are interested in Rift but don't want to spend money on it without some kind of free trial first. Very happy to see this.

It's a good idea.  This game (as the case with any MMO) improves exponentially when played with friends.  Having it come out within 4 days of subscription renewal time is genius.

Is this the quickest an MMO has gone to offering a free trial?

I think so, but for the opposite reason that most have done so.

Did I miss somewhere where they mention that this free trial is limited by more than the calendar?  Like max level 16 (I think, might have been 15), no access to any zones beyond the first one or two, no dungeoning, etc.

It's perfectly reasonable for them to limit the free trial, but it sure was annoying to run into those limits by surprise with my friends who were trying it out over the weekend.  We were really hoping to at least get into the first dungeon, but whammo! they slammed into invisible walls trying to zone and level caps that we had NO idea even existed.  It was pretty rude, but a great introduction to Trion's penchant for doing ALMOST everything right, except for the one or two little things they do horribly horribly wrong.   awesome, for real

Yes, I know I'm paranoid, but am I paranoid enough?

Hell, i couldn't even get a damn code.  By friends i assume they meant "my friends" not "people who friend us on facebook", which i sure as fuck don't plan on do it.

I tried free last weekend, enjoyed it, and bought a sub. So now I have a code for the coming free weekend.

Who wants?
