Just went through all the videos and I have got to say that I think I am sold on buying it on release date. I can't think what was the last time j have done that.

FYI - I have SR:2 for the PC and it does have a few minor bugs but overall it is totally playable.

The Wide World of Genki Trailer

I'm pretty sure all other games will cease to exist for me for a few months after November 15.

Seems their marketing is targeted at the Jackasses out there.

Can anyone tell me what the in game voice chat is like for previous SR games on PS3? I would like to get this for PS3 so I dont have to pay for xbox live, by my friend and I who plan to coop the whole thing are a little worried about being able to chat easily, as the PS3 voip chat system has really sucked in the past.

SR2's voice chat was generally pretty good - as long as you both have working headsets, you'll be fine - every now and then you'll get a little bit of the typical Bluetooth audio weirdness, but the game itself wasn't to blame.

Also, another SR3 video, this one containing 'St33lport' teaser video

Ok.  I've never played any of the Saints Row games.  The random trailers in this thread has gotten me very interested however.  I see on steam that I own Saints Row 2 from some holiday package I got.  Do I need to play through the first 2 to have a good understanding of the story?  Or at least, really enjoy it?  I'm a sucker for story.  If you think I can skip the first one, fine, but if its good, I'll damn well play the first, then the 2nd, an finally buy this third one.  Just please let me know.

It's a loose story and will give you some background to the whole Saints situation, how they came to be and why you're so badass. Depending on who you ask, the first Saints is the better one, but I found I had more fun with Saints 2. I wouldn't play through both just because it might burn you out on open world games before Saints 3 comes out.

Co-op only.  That said, it's Gamespot - I'm not shocked that they don't use the terminology correctly.  I just posted it because it covers some of the stupid stuff that's in SR3 - character creator options, zombie voiceover and some of the ridiculous dance/taunt animations.

I read something somewhere that they were totally removing the half-arsed deathmatch modes. Sounds like a smart saving of resources to me. Saints Row DM has never been anything special or even particularly entertaining.

The Co-op has always been where SR shines the most and really shows how much fun one game can provide.

Damn straight. I played through SR2 three times - once in SP, and then twice in co-op. Once with someone who I think was from here (sorry, I've forgotten who it was) and then again with my wife. Just awesomesauce.

Corporate-sponsored Professor Genki cosplayer at BlizzCon. I have to hand it to their marketing department for being able to promote their game under the radar like that. Best part? The cosplayer's is walking around acting like he's hot shit and a playah. Extremely amusing.

That's so awesome. I wonder if this is the same marketing group that did the Homefront campaign. It would shock me if it was.

Character creator (Initiation Station) available soon on XBox Live and PSN Network. You can use it to make your character ahead of time and also have it sync to their community site. It lists that it's available already for "early access" and that it will become generally available on Nov. 1st. Their character creator is fantastic, and releasing it early is a great way to get people invested and excited for the game.

Tuned in, immediately get to watch cringey Ubisoft talking head offering her deepest sympathies to the families impacted by the Orlando shooting while flanked by a man in a giraffe suit and some sort of "horrifically garish neon costumes through the ages" exhibit or something.  We need to stop this fucking planet right now and sort some shit out. -Kail

I would wager that those gameplay vids just about max'd my excitement over the game... can't get any higher, though how does this work on PC?

Looks like the Initiation station must be cross-platform- especially with a PC version of SR3 coming out as well. Since characters are just a set of parameters from a long list, you should be able to design a character on PC, upload the details, and then d/l it on console later on. They also seem to be interested in getting people to share their creations, which will work well for those times you want your character to look like someone specifc. I remember the CAW formulas in the old Smackdown games on PS2 that got into some intricate details on facial shapes for the wrestlers. With the community site there'll be a ton of crap, but I'm sure someone with more time and care than I have will make a picture-perfect game version of Nikki Benz for our enjoyment..

GameSpot was giving out Steam keys for it. Played around with it last night and was so tired I got overwhelmed by the options and went to bed.
