The EU servers launched today - and CoH is now available retail over here.

Of course, as remarked upon in a previous thread Mythic are going for daoc style segregation of the player base, so US keys can only connect to US servers, EU keys can only connect to EU servers.

Oh, and still no transfer option.

The predicatable splitting in half of the near-GMT english speaking playerbase is now underway.

Hurrumpf.

I don't see how this affects anyone currently playing.  Won't Europeans who've been playing for the past year still be playing on the US servers?

If daoc and the like are anything to go buy, the supply of new players will dry up, the EU player numbers will drop on the US servers, but never really get going on EU servers (because some will remain in the US, and because a shortage of players will likely make customer support less good on EU servers).

It beats the hell out of me why EU players even need seperate servers based in the EU. Becuase lag (as in all MMORPGs) is a non-issue.

Someone will perk up and say localisation shortly. No. Localisation only applies in 2 countries, France and Germany. Everyone else gets to speak English.
