Set in historic Europe, at the dawn of the gunpowder age.

Quote
Based on the original gameplay of M&B: Warband, With Fire and Sword is an action-oriented role-playing game with emphasis on mounted combat. The player is able to join one of the 5 battling factions, fight as a mercenary and bring his faction to dominate Europe.

  • A storyline based on the cult novel from Nobel-prize winner author Henry Sienkiewicz.
  • A new century of warfare that brings pistols, muskets, grenades, and other advanced weaponry to the battlefield.
  • Fully customizable armies; players can outfit their soldiers with each piece of weaponry & armor.
  • Additional quest types. More political intrigue with colorful factions. More adventure in a new land.
  • New economic system, which includes village / town development, a banking system, & new trade options. Players will have the opportunity to loan money, keep money on deposit, and arrange caravans.
  • Multiple endings to sustain player's interest and increase replayability.
  • Deeply researched historical component encompassing every aspect of the game's assets.
  • Ferocious new multiplayer action, bringing players the thrill of pitting old technology against the looming threat of firearms.

"VERY SOON..." says the banner. Looking forward to this, the one thing I always felt M&B could really use is a tightening up of the 'lore' so to speak and something like this should help with that a lot.

The Transcendent One: AH... THE ROGUE CONSTRUCT.
Nordom: Sense of closure: imminent.

I hope they're planning to do something about that archaic UI, and add some more tools for modders. How interesting that they are talking about endings to the game

People never make these kinds of game better for me. I'm odd that way.

Really? Any reason why? I guess it depends on what you're thinking co-op is. For me it would be drop-in co-op with friends. I would definitely not want to play the single player campaign with randoms.

Yeah I guess the thing is that outside of my 11 year old MMOG guild, I don't have friends that do the gaming thing. It would be randoms which make me want to not play.

Yeah no one wants to play campaign with randoms. I just want a 4-8 player campaign type game.

This is kind of a "professional mod" for M&B, a new conversion made by a dev studio, licensed from Taleworlds, for commercial release. Not a new expansion which would add a feature like coop campaign.

Seems to be aimed more at the Polish (along with neighbouring central/eastern european nationas) domestic market more than anything else, since it is based on some historical novels which are Poland's version of "Romance of the 3 Kingdoms". I think the studio that is making it is Polish too.

I'm pretty sure this has already been released over there as well...

Fakedit: "CD Projekt has announced a spin-off called Mount&Blade: Ogniem i mieczem (translates as With Fire and Sword), based on the historical novel With Fire and Sword by Henryk Sienkiewicz, developed by Snowberry Connection, Sich Studio and TaleWorlds Entertainment. The game will be set in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the playable factions will be Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Sweden and the Crimean Khanate. The planned release date was Fall 2009 in Poland, Sweden, Ukraine, Russia and the Czech Republic. It was released on December 4, 2009." (from wikipedia)

Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

I guess it's first Polish/Euro release did decently well, coupled with M&Bs continued growth & popularity, that they are updating it for a warband release with english translation.

Trailer released. It appears to be all in-game footage (albeit with some truly obnoxious motion blur), but no gameplay is shown.
