Buyer beware. Only game I've ever "returned" to Steam.  They gave me one time only deal for a full refund (during their summer sale).

I know my machine isn't that impressive, but neither are the game's visuals.

I wish I had resisted it last time it was on sale.

I didn't have a problem with technical issues with this game, the controls on the other hand weren't that great on PC. I'll be trying with a controller tomorrow and see if it improves, but I figure for $7.50 I've made worse purchases than this.

I do like the $49.99 Star Wars package though, that is an acceptable price for the games in there, though I don't like that it is missing the Lego Star Wars saga. That would make that package at that price really worth it imo.

I've still got that one sitting around to play on the Wii...

I've only made it partway through the "intro" at this point.  The poor graphics coupled with the insane controls made me go "meh" and put it back down again.

For $7.50, I considered it. Then I remembered the backlog of steam stuff I have and how mediocre this seems and it was easy to close steam.

Updated - KOTOR I don't think there was a reason to not own this before, definitely no reason to not own it now at $2.50.

Was that the one with Pazaak? I played that mini-game so much I forgot why I traveled to the planet I was on. Hopefully they have a PvP version at the cantinas in SWTOR.

Pazaak was one of my favorite mini-games ever. Also, I really enjoyed Poker Dice in the Witcher. I think I spend at least 10 hours out of each of those games playing each one.

One of the might and magic games had a mini-game that I thought was better than pazaak.  Arcomage?  I think it was in 7.

I almost bought that first game, but am now glad I passed on it.  KotOR, on the other hand, I'll gleefully plunk down $2.50 for.

I bought KotOR last sale.  Game had an irrevocable crash mid-way through.  It had another early on, but it was early enough I could start over and power through.  Very disappointing because I wanted to play through it again.

Well, just bought Kotor for $2.50. I may try Republic Commando when it goes on sale. I'm now off to find mods for KOTOR.

I had a lot of fun with Republic Commando.  The squad based stuff wasn't a requirement and they didn't seem to get in the way too much.  It ran smooth with no crashes.

I bought Empire at War in a previous sale.

I have no idea how you're supposed to play the game. It's completely unlike every other RTS I've played, and the tutorial told me virtually nothing. I barely survived some portions of the tutorial, and everything past that was "beaten without understanding why."

Am I misremembering this, or are these mostly the same games that went on sale this summer?  I wouldn't mind grabbing another copy of Battlefront 2 or Dark Forces if I could get them on the cheap, but this other stuff just went on sale like two months ago.

The pack looks kind of interesting, but there are too many questionable inclusions (Force Unleashed, Star Wars Galaxies, and Clone Wars Republic Heroes being something like seventy bucks on their own kills a lot of the "savings" for me) and some equally baffling exclusions (why KotOR and not KotOR2?  Why Battlefront 2 and not Battlefront 1?  Why not the Lego games?  If you're releasing DOS games like Dark Forces, why not release others like Tie Fighter?).

Edited to add:

I had the exact same problem, ugh.  Did the tutorial, loaded my first map on easy, sent a fleet of ships to the nearest enemy planet.  Orbital combat won, so far so good.  Send in the ground troops, only to find they literally had a RING OF TANKS around the landing point.  Yoda didn't even get to finish screaming "A FUCKING RETARD, YOU ARE" before he got cut down by artillery.

The Empire at War is really fun for space battles. The inclusion of ground battles essentially kills the game, rendering it an unfun slog every time you have to participate in one.

They really REALLY needed to take a page out of total war games, but they didn't. Why no one has bothered doing a TW Star Wars game yet is beyond me. Shit would sell like hotcakes.

It's been a while since I played EAW, but IIRC the ground battles were easily won by just building up a mix of troops and throwing them at things.  I think I was playing on easy though because I hate RTS.

In reality both space and land work the same.  Each unit is a counter to certain units and has a few specific counters.   This makes a HUGE difference when attacking things. It takes forever for a patrol ship to take down a cruiser, but toss a few TIE Bombers at them and ka-pow.  (Just make sure to have Fighers there to take out the X-wings that will target the bombers.)  I recall reading this in the manual (Which was useful) not the tutorial (which was not.) Go go games with required manuals in an e-delivery environment.

There's a decent FAQ at Gamefaqs, or this guy's page.

The best thing that came with EAW as I recall was a big fold out chart with all the units on it, showing what they were strong and weak against, etc.

I loved that Might and Magic mini game! I seriously unlocked that game and never adventured again. And yeah, I'm pretty sure it was in 7, I think that was the only one I ever even played.  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

They had a Lucas Arts sale with mostly different games before, with the exception of KOTOR as I believe that was in that sale. As for why some games and not others, for kotor2/bf1 it's because they aren't on steam. I don't know why no Lego Star Wars in the SW package, but I'm guessing it is something to do with the developer contract keeping it out of the package.

Might be tempted to get EAW for $5 (£3.75) but I don't know if I'd ever play it. Then again, I own Supremacy, Force Commander and Galactic Battlegrounds so another barely played Star Wars RTS would probably complete the set.

Was there ever any reason why all the X-Wing/Tie Fighter games never made it onto Steam?
