Thanks for the warning; I was thinking about picking it up just to see what the fuss was about.

I got it awhile ago, great game.  What exactly is bad about SecuROM again?  So far my computer hasn't exploded or anything.

In any event, you might want to hold off on this anyways. I'm pretty sure the reason they are doing this sale now is because they are releasing Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition in a few months.  It contains all the other races they didn't include in this edition, plus some other stuff I think.  So if your going to shell out for it, you may as well go for that one (though obviously you'd be paying full price).  Like the sad sap I am, I'll probably buy that edition as well, giving them all my damn money.

I play this on a weekly basis in a league, and it's great fun. Don't know about SecureROM though (maybe i should check my computer. I don't remember having any problems with anything). Amazing game if you are into tabletop mayhem.

But, as Teleku said, there will be a new edition (+20 new teams) coming out soon, so one might want to hold off before purchasing. On the other hand, it IS cheap, and there is the odd chance that we might get another f13 league going at some point.

I would love to have another f13 league. 2009-10 has been a weird year for me and I ended up neglecting some fun things, like the BloodBowl leagues. It sucks to finally have a Steam version plagued by securom, but with the Legendary edition coming out I'll definitely try to organize something again. This game is just too good to let time, or rootkits, scratch it.

I don't remember being warned about Securom when I picked it up way back when. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who has never played any table top games I don't think the fun will be obvious enough for people without that background as it is a faithful as fuck translation of table top to computer.

I would be so down for a league though.

Haven't played the tabletop but I picked this up anyway. Figured I wouldn't be willing to pay full price for the Ultimate Edition without trying the game out first, and I'll probably get at least $10 worth of fun this way.

I picked this up and have proceeded to get stomped on mercilessly, even on the easiest setting. Struggling to see the fun right now, but at least it was cheap.

You can search up the old thread(s) which will have some tips but let me just say that if you don't understand tackle zones and how the number of block dice is determined the game can not be fun. I can't imagine losing the game on the easiest difficulty once you actually know wth is going on with the mechanics. The computer is terribad.

Yeah, what he said.  Did you read the rulebook?  You absolutely have to read through the whole rulebook before you even attempt playing.

Picked this up on the weekend as well.  I have been eying it for a while and following the F13 league loosely.  I could never justify the full price for this game when it came out.  I would be down for some league action once I get a chance to give it a go.

We had a league? I remember a pre-league that fell apart at the very last games, then no followup.

Much like most tabletop BB leagues I've been involved with in the past, with the exception of one.

I did, and now I tried again. I did a bit better and managed to at least score. It still feels that all the bad things only ever happen to my team, and that the opponents have a lot more going for them. Will give it another shot though.

I started four campaigns (on normal, because I'm a masochist) before I started winning any games. Though two of those were with goblins; won't make that mistake again for a little while.

Doing better with lizardmen, though they kind of feel like a newb race since they only have three units, which is good but bothers me a bit. Will probably try orcs next.

Yeah, key is just to play over and over, you'll eventually figure out all the mechanics.  Its got a bit of a learning curve, but I find it very addictive.  Play a campaign and start building up skills for your players.  Another useful thing is to switch the screen at the bottom to show the dice rolls, so you know exactly whats happening.

Also, what team are you playing?  Each play very differently.  You wouldn't want elves (especially wood elves) to be involved with much tackling, and avoid physical confrontation.  The only thing you can really do with a Chaos team is smash things.  Certain teams (ahem GOBLINS) are meant to be kind of a joke team that is very difficult to win with.

I would love for us to start another league.  My only question is, would Legendary Edition and the Dark Elf edition be compatible (as in, they would be limited to picking only the teams on the DE edition, but could still play against my Norse)?  Be kind of a shame to start a new league where everybody is just limited to the DE edition races.

You aren't going to sell people on buying the Legendary Edition until after they have experienced the joy of league play so it is what it is either way.

Picked this up and having a lot of fun with it.

I much prefer playing this to the board game - problem I always had with the board game was that every move has far too many dice rolls and rules modifiers to remember for a game that needs to be fast. In classic mode this automates shit in exactly the right way. One day someone will explain a logical reason why GW don't do this for all their products.

Yeah, exactly.  Playing most complex table top games would be amazing on PC because you don't have to remember all the exact modifier roles and shit.  This game is a perfect example of how well it works out.

GW doesn't allow this to happen for any of their major products because their convinced if they keep the game play limited to $10 miniatures, they'll make more money, instead of opening it up a much much larger market share.   Ohhhhh, I see.

There is a thread posted at the official BB forums here.

Apparently, late October release for Legendary is confirmed.

They are also knocking $10 off the download version of legendary if you have a BB or BB:DE key.

They say they are discussing this with Steam, which presumably means valve are scratching their arse trying to figure out if they can implement it.
