I searched for "bitch"... got a lot of Springer... and one episode of Seinfeld. Hmm.

It's amazing, but I can't say I find it overly useful in its current state.

The networks will never licence the copyrights to them for them to be able to provide the actual video. It would be interesting to know if they are storing the video digitally even though they don't have copyright clearance to do so. That would be the same thing MP3.com did back in the day with CDs and got raped in court for.

They could probably box it up with their Enterprise search boxes though so companies could search their own video but I'm pretty sure video companies can already do that.

For example, sports casters have a searchable database of all their old video so when a newscaster says "do we have that clip of Bobby Brown hitting a home run in 1921"? They do a search, cut to the clip, and start running it all in a few seconds.

No good reason to.  It looks to me like they're just storing the CC text and one thumbnail every thirty seconds.

Yahoo does video now too. Shockingly, you actually can search for video clips as opposed to timestamped video stills.

Is it just me, or is this so completely fucking useless that it boggles the mind as to why money would be spent developing it?

Maybe I missed the incredibly obvious useful nature of this somewhere.

I would say both. I mean you can buy the entire non chopped up versions on DVD of any semi successfull series
BWL is funny tho.  It's like watching a Special Needs school take a field trip to a minefield.
