I'm annoyed with them just giving up on desiging any kind of API but instead saying "modders will just get source access and hack on stuff".

Those dragons are enderdragons I think he called it.  It's nowhere near finished or textured and he even said he'd be working into the weekend on it, which is actually kinda reasuring.  I don't think he said anything about bosses though, they're probably just big badass mobs.

I also heartily agree with the API thing. I'd have a bunch of mods installed right now if I could just click my non-modded classic world and play that, but still have each modded world remember which mods were active for it. A fantasy rpg mod world, an industrial world, etc.

Depends on how tough they are.  Half the game time is already spent avoiding the night spawns and dealing with the non-flammable ones come morning.

Well, to be fair, developing and supporting an interface and not breaking it from version to version is a bit of work, but it's hardly an impossible task.

At the very least one could have a basic extension API for server commands, scripting, behaviors, simple new blocks, etc, which maybe doesn't allow for every possible thing one might want to do but then you can have basic mods that use the API and can coexist sanely.

I expect, if Mojang can't be bothered to do this, we'll see one or two "mod frameworks" turn up that do provide this and see developers gravitate to them.

What say we upgrade to 1.9.4 (which will be out soon) and see how bad the chunk errors are.  We haven't explored much and I think we can tame any serious flaws by pick and by shovel!

Yeah, I refuse to work with mods because of that shit, but basically the pre release upgrades are just replacing minecraft.jar (remembering to rename the old one so you can revert back to it)
