Game desperately needs better monsters. I see all these plans and stuff online for cunning traps, when all you really need is to close your door and leave some torches outside.

That's exactly why I'm playing Terraria instead of Minecraft.  I need a challenge.  If he ramps things up a bit in that direction, I'll be back.

Sadly, I'm almost complete with my character in Terraria.  Hard to complain because I got more than my $10.00 out of it, but I'm left wanting more.  Lots more.

Isn't that what the nether is for? Its the adventure realm of danger.

By the time you're mining obsidian you've already been sitting outside your invincible fortress for eons worth of nights trying to lure zombies into your cactus wall so you won't feel like you wasted your time building it.

The Nether really didn't give enough, at least I don't think so.  I don't think a majority of minecraft players want their structures to be continuously threatened the way WUA seems to but there is definitely a need for more variety and difficulty in wild/deep vs civilization and more reward or depth to being a dedicated monster hunter.

Yeah, that I agree with, there are some modes I believe should be rolled into the game. But considering the F13 server never ran any monsters, I'm going to guess its not really a huge majority.

The nether is actually safer in terms of monster threat, it's dangers are almost all environmental. The pigmen won't bother you if you don't bother them and the ghasts are only an issue if you manage to run into a dozen of them at once without a bow. That's a lot fireball reflecting to do.

Otherwise it's about lack of proper materials and the ground literally being lava that makes it hazardous. Navigation is fun too without a compass or sun awesome, for real

The most dangerous thing in the game is leaving your invincible fortress in the morning. 90% of Creeper detonations happen as a player leaves their front door I would wager.

The real trick is to make your fortifications harvest all the things you kill with them.  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

There are enough designs for devious traps/alarms/etc. on Youtube and the wiki that I have to figure someone out there would like there to be a mode where they mattered. I want to annhilate zombie hordes with a doomsday weapon that spews lava everywhere.

Notch has said he wants to put in a BloodMoon night or whatever, where monsters swarm civilization during the night.

But Notch says lots of shit.  Ohhhhh, I see.

Supposedly, 1.7 will be the "Adventure Update" ... what that means, exactly ... I'm not sure. Hopefully something good.

As I understand it. Its a system to lock your maps up, and distribute them for "Designed" game-play. Map file, Texture pack ETC... All in one drop in package. So you can play "Attack at blargoal" or "Zombie lake!".

Or something.

It's supposed to let you set restrictions on which block types can be destroyed or placed too I think?

If they could make minecraft where you build your own levels for adventures to hack and fight mobs through to get to the end.

Well that would just be badass wouldn't it?

I made a party room as a present for my Daughter in Minecraft.  It turned out a little darker than I wanted, but she was happy and I tried out fraps as she discovered it.  She is in love with yogscast and wants to make her own videos.

I predict lots of shoulder injuries from pretending to swing a pick.  It's not like Minecraft is short on pick swinging.
