Now that they have the base game done for the Xbox C++ conversion, it will be much easer to move foward bringing it upto the same feature set as the PC version. That is, unless it will upset any XBL restrictions on games, content, and patching. That seems to happen a lot.

Moving on:

In the new snapshot, this was added:

That how it should be IMO! Sadly, its a setting when creating the world initially.

What am I looking at? A map? What is a setting when creating the world initially?

Yes. That's an in game map created using the new snapshot set to "Large biomes".

Im not sure what the server config setting is right now, but single/multiplayer ( because the PC versions now support local multiplayer worlds, like the 360 version ) setting is right in the world creation settings under world type. ( Normal, flat, Large biomes ).

Xbox:

Quote
That's right, Mojang and 4J Studios' Xbox 360 edition of indie hit Minecraft has already sold more than one million units worldwide on XBLA since its release on Wednesday, May 9th! MCX360 sells for 1600 MS Points, or $20; in short, the title generated more than $20 million in less than a week. Notch tweeted the day afterwards that the game had become profitable (saw more money gained in sales than spent in creating it) within the first full day of sales.

Microsoft Studios, while initially non-specific about the sales numbers after launch day, confirmed that MCX360 broke all previous sales records on Live Arcade, beating out the previous fastest-selling game on the platform, Trials Evolution, which sold over 100,000 copies in a day, by over four times the numbers.

PC:

Quote
In the last 24 hours, 127,468 people registered, and 13,375 people bought the game. On average, this means that a little over thirteen thousand people buy a new copy of Minecraft every single day, and that number keeps growing!

Ender chest. Any item placed in it, can be taken out of another Ender chest. Downside is, its server wide ( Not personal ).

Quote
Time for a new snapshot! One big difference this time is that you don’t need the server jar to play single-player. Also,

Villagers will trade items (they are cheap bastards, though!)
    Added a “currency item”
    A few minor terrain changes
A new useful block/item (requires obsidian)
Added a /seed command for showing the map seed
    Added sandstone stairs
A lot of smaller changes and fixes

Undocumented:
Sandstone Villages.
Pyramids, booby-trapped crypts.
Villagers sell Chain mail gear.
"Golden apple" got buffed.
Emeralds added ( Its the currency )
Jungle Villages
Gravel retexture

I love this game, it's so great the development continues despite them not having to do so at all.

I just did a decent project on our server laying some new nether rail and supporting structures. REALLY happy to see new sandstone because I was thinking of a sandstone castle for my next project.

New chest looks cool, but needs to bind to account.

Basically almost every 5th grader in my kid's school now plays it. (She was one of the evangelists who sold it to her classmates; I vouched to the parents). What's interesting is that some of the kids are learning how do some server maintenance etc. through Minecraft, not just how to play. I think this is going to end up one of the defining computing experiences of a whole generation.

I might even go one step further and say Minecraft will end up as ubiquitous as Monopoly, Lego or Checkers.

I second this. It's very very popular amongst the tweens, including running servers and so on.

Wish you could run redstone wire on all sides of a block. Totally lost on how to wire my current project without making it look like shit.

I want to string some lights but it would look like crap if I built a bunch of horizontal supports to run the wire.

I could probably kludge something together, but it would take about 500 smooth sandstone and more punitively, double the amount of redstone lamps. Harvesting glowstone is a bitch. And it would still look like crap compared to just being able to stick the redstone to the side/bottom of the existing structure.

I'll probably just leave that and learn how to use pistons for another project.

Glowstone isn't that hard with some fire protection potions.

There's a lot of unexplored nether out there!

Not that I can see, but it will be "new stuff that spawns, will only spawn in undiscovered areas" situation. Like the new ore.

Is there some setting for SMP that allows us to dig out 5 blocks instead of the 4 blocks of SSP? Can that setting be applied to SSP?
