Brooklyn was hit with a tornado a few years ago, actually.

Not that I wish death or destruction on anyone (well, maybe some of the Yankees and their fans ), but seeing footage of a big tornado hitting Manhattan would be really fucking cool.

We had the Emergency broadcast system come on in the Bay Area one time while we were driving up the freeway, warning of a Tornado in Pinole (basically the North East part of the bay). That was sort of a WTF moment for us...

Err, I don't think this thread is about being scared of Tornado's in general. It's about seeing Tornado's landing in the middle of East/West Coast Cities and being amazed. Everybody knows Tornado's destroy everything in the Midwest, just as god intended.

Yeah, I just thought I'd try and one-up him (even though I don't live in Illinois). By hurricane force storm, I don't mean "really destructive tornado", I mean an honest-to-god hurricane ran over a few towns except it wasn't technically a hurricane because by definition those form over water but the end result was the same.
Also, apostrophes.

Here in Indiana we just go outside and watch the tornadoes go by. It's like a state sport.

Heck, a tornado ripped the roof off of my office building last month. Fortunately, I had left 30 mins before it hit. Gotta love Illinois.

I traded in my fun blog for several legal blogs. Or, "blawgs," as the cutesy attorney blawgosphere likes to call 'em.

In my time in Texas, we had tornado warnings weekly in the summers. They never really bothered us much unless the sky started to turn green. Then, you knew to get the hell out of the way of any glass objects.

Having spent most of my life in tornado infested areas, I've learned one thing: When you hear the sound of a freight train coming, kiss your ass goodbye.

A tornado hit downtown Atlanta two years ago, and ripped up the middle of mid-town while knocking out glass from most of the high-rises in the area. It hit the Georgia Dome during the SEC Basketball Tournament and literally ripped open a section on the upper level while causing all the equipment to sway from the rafters. Water cascaded down the CNN Center stairs.
It passed over the top of my apartment while I had the windows open, and I was watching the SEC game on the TV. I heard that freight train sound and went to shut my windows. It was sheeting rain so hard I couldn't see across the street. Within minutes the rafters were rocking. It wasn't scary so much as a total WTF moment in the middle of downtown.
They still haven't replaced glass on one of the hotel buildings because the cost would be more than the building is worth, so the Insurance company wouldn't pay off. It took the city 1.5 months to reopen that section of Peachtree (Main Street) after the disaster, because Atlanta is run by idiots.

When I become independently wealthy (holding my breath- ANY minute now, I am sure), I would love to do some storm chasing. I am fascinated by tornados, and really would love to see one or a hundred before I shuffle off this mortal coil.
