Everytime someone finishes up the Hermit quest that unleashes Stitches, the (imo) seriously under-conned lvl 35 Elite Abomination upon Duskwood I lol irl.

It's pretty fun to get the yell from the Night Watch that Stitches is out and then the howls from everyone as he massacres them all on the road from Raven Hill to Darkshire.

Too bad the quest has the dumbest NPC names (Ambercrombie and Stitches... ugh)

I'm doing the quest out of Stormwind about the missing messenger and I'm actually really liking it so far. Fair bit of travel, but the story behind it is interesting so far.

Have you tried the internet? It's made out of millions of people missing the point of everything and then getting angry about it

Indeed, talk about seriously under-conned. Stitches was very tough to defeat at level 45. I was just walking through the zone filling in unexplored areas of the map, when I noticed him, named, not elite and levels above anything else in the region. Since everybody seemed to be avoiding him and he was 10 levels below me, I decided to kill him by myself. Ouch. More like an elite of my level or even slightly over, and he very nearly killed me. I had to use a bunch of kiting, confusion, first-aid and potions to beat him. He dropped some grey bone that, held in the off-hand, adds 50ac. It was odd to have dozens of lowbie Alliance /cheering an orc.

I am had a lowbie shaman quest I did not finish recently.  I was to find this rock and drink a sacred fluid.  When I did, I could see elementals that inhabited the area previously hidden from my eyes.

I am not sure how to "finish" this quest.  But it was a nice twist.

Might want to talk to the main rock with a big ? over his head.   That is for your earth totem by the way.  A wee bit important if you ask me.

Heh, they'll probably make you get the earth sapta components again.

I was going to say the Ghostbusters quest, but I was beat to it.

Fortunately just last night I did the level 30 warrior quest, involving the NPC Klannoc McLeod, the "Islander".

The VanCleef instance in the deadmines was the most fun I've had so far. Assaulting a pirate ship and getting hit by attack parrots was interesting. Plus crazy stealthers were everywhere.

My least favorite is the stockade missions. I thought the whole thing was very uninspired.

The lead-up quests to the Deadmines gave me a good laugh when one of the letters you fedex around mentions Van Cleef & the Defias working on a "weapon of mass destruction" which turns out to be a Juggernaut from the other WC games. Also props on the Goonies-style layout of the Deadmines.

The undead Undercity has a few amusing set pieces.

In the Apothecary area, there are captured humans locked in cages. When you approach, you can hear them sobbing and crying. It's actually pretty disturbing.

Uldaman and the Indiana ties are just priceless.  I am trying to decide if the dwarves are the germans or not...

Our druid got off a bat of all things tonight and it looks exactly like the beat up fedora...  of course a cow is wearing it, but still, damn funny.

Actually, there is a LOT of scripted shit in the various cities and towns that people seem to completely miss out on.  Just wander about and listen for a grey text conversation, then stand around for 5 or 6 minutes and get the whole thing:

In undercity, there is a group of people discussing some guys human mind slave. If you stand around the cages with the people in them in the Apocathary disctict, the Apocathary guy standing near one feeds various liquids to one of captives ending in a rather hilarous display (ever repeatedly clicked a sheep?)

I have spotted other scripted conversations in Stormwind (little kids on a dock fishing have one)

In Freewind Post (horde only for 1k needles) there is a tauren aspiring to be a windrider master.  Every so often he wanders over to the Chimera sitting at the windrider post and blows them kisses :P

Lots and lots of this stuff scattred around.

I love the details in WoW. Most recently overheard flavor conversation was out in the Badlands, two undead conversing by a fire (paraphrased):

"So..have you heard about the New Plague?"
"Yeah! It's got less carbs than the old plague!"

Something like that. Good stuff, and the game is packed with it. Bro'Kin, the goblin engineer, heh. My current favorite is the goblin engy working on the teleported from Ratchet to Gnomeragen: Chief Engineer Scooty. I forget the guy's name on the other end, but another Trek nod, and the teleporter looks just like a trek porter. Good stuff.

That's great.  Well some here hark back to UO and for me it is Fallout.

When you travelled in Fallout it was neat to here some prescripted conversations around you that were not necesssarily quest givers.

Nice touch in WoW.

Since the boat from Menethil to Auberdine is broken, they put in teleporter NPCs. Apparently it's temporary, because the Menethil NPC is Captain Placeholder.  I roofled at that.

I don't get the Auberdine one though:  Captain Noteo.

Captain EO was a Disneyland ride/3D movie from the mid-80's featuring Michael Jackson.  You wore 3d glasses and then an asteroid blew up in your face.

More and more night elf connections with MJ (see their dance for another).

This leads me to believe that the anti-night elf bias isn't restricted to this board, it's inside Blizzard itself!!

I dont group with NE outside of the guild unless they are druids, and that is because if you want to play a druid you have no choice.

During early beta Captain Noteo was originally called just Captain Eo. Does he still do the dance before he teleports you?
I don't remember what Captain Placeholder used to be called but I think it was another "better change it before we get sued" name.

From memory the away team goblin also had a snazzy red shirt.

There's a nice sequence of goblin quests out of ratchet for some piece of technical whizzery. It involves raiding processing plants and a venture company oil rig. Then you finally bring the item to a goblin technician who procedes to beat the hell out of it with a spanner, shortly before declaring that it doesn't seem to be working right anymore.

There's also one where you need some corrupted water cleansed and the shaman NPC talks about "needing the help of the spirits". Pretty typical guff until she walks over to the water and calls forth a massive L60 elite elemental to actually do the work. Does a marvellous job of adding weight and power to the event.

There really are a lot of very nice touches in WoW.

This is a "necro post" of sorts but now that I am playing this game more I wanted to add some comments.

Kill the Lion.  In the barrens I had a simple quest taking all of 10 minutes to kill a feared lion.  Sounds like your typical Get X quest, but instead I was given a horn.  When I neared the lair I had to blow on the horn to summon the lion.  This created a lot of excitement, since I had no idea of the encounter distance or if this was going to be a group or solo encounter.  A nice touch on a quest that is so short (I cannot remember the actual quest name).

NPC battle.  This was really cool.  In the Barrens I saw a group Centaurs attacking an Orc outpost.  At first I thought it was some sort of PvP attack - but it was all NPCs.  I entered the fray and was able to heal Orc fighters.  I also killed a higher level centaur and got experience for it, even though by the time I attacked he was almost dead.  An orc peon even emerged trying to chop wood to bring it back to the fort.  This dynamic made me feel apart of this world.

Plant the seeds.  I had to explore an oasis and find a fissure.  The fissure was located in the water and I planted the seeds there.  That was a nice twist again on a 15 minute quest.  It was cool seeing that I could flee to the water and hyenas wound not enter the water.  However, turtles in the water could pursue me on land.  The biology made sense (in EQ2 I have been killed by a school of fish on land in fleeing the water).  It was cool to see that the drops in the water could be right clicked upon - revealing further "drops" contained within the shells.

Purify the well.  Another 10 minute quest in Thunderbluff.  Clear a few denizens around the well and perform a ritual to purify it.  Simple quest, nice little twist.

Kill the Raptors.   A simple kill X quests with some nice twists.  After killing the raptors and collecting some feathers from them I had to locate 3 different nests and place a feather on each one as my "calling card" to make sure they got the message.  Quick quest, nice twist.

The above illustrates some simple variations on quests that take about 15 minutes to perform.

My least favorite is the stockade missions. I thought the whole thing was very uninspired.

The Deadmines is the only instance I've done so far, and I loved it.  I even got a pet parrot out of it.

Sorry to hear about the Stockades.  I have a few quests there, and was hoping it would be just as good.

Walk down a hall, bash a mob. Walk to the right, bash a mob. Turn around, bash a few mobs, collect the head. Leave.

All to the tune of the same textures repeated over and over again. I could have designed that place in literally four minutes. The Deadmines, Scarlet Monastery, and Uldaman put it to shame.

I love the details in WoW.

Not quest related, but I noticed this awesome detail the other day.

We were in the Razorfen Downs instance.  That place is chock full of undead.  It's supposed to be cold. How do I know?

If you look closely you will see your character's breath coming out as steam.  Now THAT is detail.

That's was one of the reasons I like the dwarves.  If you look at them in their starting area in the snow - you see their breath.  Neat.

Also, I have noticed some emotes seem race specific.  /sleep gives the fetal position if you're Tauren but if you're Undead you assume this rigid "Pharaonic" posture.  /salute again appears to differ in between races.
