I am very new to WoW but I just absolutely howled at this one quest in the Troll starting area which is shared with Orcs:
The foreman gives you a bat. You run around the zone looking for Peons (wood choppers from Warcrafter II and III) sleeping. You can poke them and you get the classic responses like "I am not that kind of orc!" or "Me busy!". If you hit them with the bat... they wake up and go over and start harvesting lumber.
You have to wake-up and put back to work 5 sleeping peons.
The quest is dead simple, but in 27 levels of EQ I just don't remember anything that much fun.
I wish WoW had more quest variety - but the quest variety it does have is welcome.

Yeah, that was a funny one. There is a lot of humor to be found in the game.

There are some amusing ones one quest for a gnome alchemist to who is searching for a cure for the disease in gnomeragan actually winds up turning the diseased gnome into a chicken. hehe I was amused when I saw that one.
The level 20 rogue quest to learn poison is pretty darn neat big sneaking puzzle.

The druid quest to get bear form was satisfying in a "druidy" way. The Moonglow area is pretty cool.
Tauren and night elves, living together ... mass hysteria!

The rogue quest to get poisons was great. The quest was to steal an item from a powerful wizard in his tower.
The quest text gave advice to read a scroll in inventory for tips on accomplishing the mission. The scroll mentioned using the Garrote ability to deal with roaming guards. When I garroted the guards, they instantly died. Very cool.
After sneaking and garroting to the top of the tower, the rogue is faced with the wizard, who is at an unkillable level. I stealthed up to him, sapped him to "mez" for 25 seconds, and quickly began using lockpicking to get into his locked chest. Just as I got the quest item, he woke up. i had to hightail it out with him and half of his guards chasing.
This was a great quest because it had great class-specific flavor. This was great hand-crafted content.

Since playing a new alt on Icecrown, my favourite quest is the one I actually finished. :(

Since playing a new alt on Icecrown, my favourite quest is the one I actually finished. :( So you are definitely masochist. I believe that Icecrown is the most unstable and bug-ridden server between all the 88.

There's an early quests in Teldrassil where you get tricked by a Satyr to go rape nature or something. The elder elves find out you got tricked, and rebuke you and all.
Then they send you off to trick the Satyr back and turn him into a toad or something. I got a kick out of it, because everytime you walk by him after that quest the game renders him as a toad instead of his normal tricksy self.

Icecrown is finally getting more stable. Aslan and I Are in an alliance guild there and things seemed to be very smooth last night when I spent 7 hours (!) in Blackrock Depths.

I decided to play my alliance alt on Icecrown because some people from my old SWG guild play there. (Darniaq, Kobi, etc.) All the fun I had in SWG I can attribute to that guild.
You're right, HRose... last night I dc'd 4 times in 15:00. After the last one, it was announced that it the server would restart in 15 minutes. It made it to 12:00. Evidently, the new trend is that particular areas crash... not necessarily the whole server. Unfortunately, I'm such low level still that I'm restricted to one area... the one that likes to crash.
I really hope Riggs is right about it becoming more stable. Luckily, Earthen Ring doesn't seem to suffer from all this nonsense.

Yeah, I know because Darniaq opened a number of posts on the official boards when the server crashed and he is usually not happy about it on Grimwell :)

Since playing a new alt on Icecrown, my favourite quest is the one I actually finished. :( That's what you get for ignoring invites to come play on Shadowsong. Favorite quest? Hmm. That's a tough one. I've really liked a lot of the escort/rescue quests. A lot of them have great stories or are incredibly quirky. We just finished all of the mechanical chicken escorts which resulted in a mechanical chicken of my own. We've just recently escorted a lost turtle to find his mate. The polluted oasis series of quest and the revenge against the kolkar were all really well done in the barrens. In fact, I think that area has some of the best quests to be found.

One of my favourite quests is the lvl 16 alliance mage quest. It gave me flashbacks of watching ghost busters as a kid. I'll post some images up later today.

I can't remember the name*, but there is a low-mid 20s Horde quest in Ashenvale that is fun- you help a group of orcs assault an elven outpost. Usually some asshat Alliance fuckstick there to kill off your allies and make you fail the quest, but the quest giver regens quickly and you can try again. The true genius is getting to murder lots and lots of elves.
*Turok's Assault or something- it is close to the Splinterwood (?) Outpost (where the wind rider stop is).

I suppose I was lucky when I did it, and the only person who tried to stop me was a similar level and died to our assault. Wiping out a whole town of elves with just a bunch of NPCs was a lot of fun. Yah, that quest was spectacular. A lot of fun, I wished at the time I could keep doing it.
Wiping out elves never gets old. I really wish they would have added more of that type of quest in the game.

Favorite quest so far? The Linken quest in Un'Goro crater. A hell of a lot of running around, but it was a fun, fun quest for the nostoligic old gamer in me.

Well back when I played, I got this one quest... It was awesome, but I don't know if anyone else will be familiar with it...
You see, I was in this town. Outside of this town were monsters that wandered around in a particular open field. Well anyway, get this: This NPC in town asked me to go out into the field and kill fifteen of these monsters. Man, it was great. I mean sure I was constantly killing monsters anyway, but this was a quest. So I killed them, and went back to the guy, and he offered me my choice of one weapon that I could use, and one I couldn't. Interactivity, yo.
I'll see if I can remember where exactly this quest was, so you can all share the joy.

This one time in Shadowbane camp.... You should have said "Shadowbane Bard Camp." Then you could tie in the flute incident nicely. Yeah, to Windup? I would hope that continuing to troll forums about a game you quit will get you banned or at least you will eventually figure out it is a worthless habit.

Hmm, I really liked one quest in particular.
When you're walking around in Duskwood, a zone with really great atmosphere, a fortune teller asks you to look into this guy called Stalvan who's been bothering her senses. You slowly develop leads and piece together who this guy was from old journal entries. Whenever you pick up an entry, you're attacked by Banshees who are trying to ensure that the mystery and torment of Stalvan be kept forever at rest.
You eventually discover that Stalvan was the victim of a love affair, which drove him mad. The story is cloudy, but eventually leads up to the present with Stalvan reported to be an angry and tortured undead soul living in a ruined house, deep in Duskwood forest. You're ordered to destroy him, as he supposedly lived a life of depravity and killed many innocents; you're not sure exactly what he did.
Anyways, I was sympathetic to Stalvan. It was the first time that I killed any MMO creature with a touch of remorse.

I'd rather beat on EQ2, but nobody posts over there. And if you're going to start executing people for going out of their way to trash WoW despite no longer playing it, I demand you kill Schild first!!

Stalvan's quest was a good one. But I had NO sympathy for that thing. He deserved what he got.
Of course, when I first explored Duskwood, he caused me a few difficulties and I do hold a grudge. So his demise was doubly satisfying.
Triply, if you consider this was my first real use of retaliation. Splattering his dual-weilding, depraved, undead fundament all over his cottage was a high point in my career.
