Supreme Commander 2 $10.99 weekend deal

This seems insanely cheap, as the game is still fairly new isn't it?  Is the game THAT bad?  As a mild fan of the SC1 (minus the resource management) and of course a TA fan, I'm tempted to pay the 11 dollars for this, but I want to make sure it isn't just totally broken or awful.

Anyone played it or have any info?

I heard the UI was fugly at launch. They may have changed it though.

I haven't played it, but the reviews I heard/read said that it was not anywhere near as good as the first one. I'm not tempted by this offer.

It's wretched. Avoid. There are so many better games for $10 you could be playing.

They oversimplfied the shit out of this. You have pretty much one unit of AvA, AvG, GvG and GvA. Then a superduper unit. And easy to make endless artillery.
There doesn't seem to be much if any balance. It's horrible. Wouldn't be worth it at 2$ It's not even that pretty, I'd say the first one outclasses it by far even on the shine factor.

I still play it now and again but yeah its a giant step backward from the first one.

I kinda liked the demo minus the stupid story, but I wasn't a huge fan of the first game. I think. I also think TA's music brainwashed me into primordial urges to buy these games. God dammit.
