Is anyone getting this?
I watched a bunch of the videos from the PlayStation store and this looks like a blast.
I couldn't believe that no one has started a thread on this yet.

I'm sure a thread would have been started when it came out and it does look like a blast.

It also looks like a Mario Kart with stage creation and customization.

So, what did you want to talk about in this apparently-late thread? Ohhhhh, I see.

Just trying to gauge interest here. Most of the people I know that are into gaming have xbox's or if they have a ps3 are not into any kind of racing games.

If people here are getting the game I will add them to my ps3 friends list so that I'm not stuck playing with a bunch of punks :P

On a somewhat related note, what do most of you use for a head set on the ps3? I was thinking of getting the ps3 blue tooth headset. any recommendations?

Also, I did a search for a thread on this game and only saw references to it in other threads.

I'll be picking this up at some point when I'm done with the other games I'm playing.  Heard the load times are pretty bad though.

This isn't the best link for it, but they're planning on addressing the load times in the first patch after the game goes live.

A magic patch, awesome.

I'll be getting this.  Multiplayer TBD, but I'm hoping I can manage.

I don't use voice chat on console games.

Demo is out today on PSN. Since I forgot to pick up RDR again today, I gave this a go and I think it is enjoyable and it is what I was waiting for. The editor is pretty easy to use though it is limited being a demo and all. The map they have on there is good, quick, fun. The load times for single player were about 15-20 seconds or so which isn't bad, so I'm figuring the issues are with the online play. Though, if it is 15-20 seconds during split screen, I'd say that is perfect as if you are playing split screen that is a perfect amount of time for shit talking.....or family bonding....or family bonding through shit talking, to each their own and what not. My only complaint are the two unskippable load screens when starting the game.

The game seems fun enough that I know I'll be buying it, but it's just a matter of when. The only thing that is making me hesitate on a preorder is the $60 price tag. If any of my friends are buying it on day 1, or if F13 wants to do a tournament awesome, for real, then I will buy it day 1. If not then I'll wait for a deal on amazon (they seem to have all the new games at 25-50% off within the first month of release lately anyways) or waiting for a price drop.

I was going to buy it, but given this news, I guess I'll pass. I don't connect my consoles to the net.

I remember the younger, more naive me who grudgingly admitted that console games would always have one advantage on PC games. They had a fixed hardware target and couldn't patch, so the developer had give me a game that worked properly right out of the box. With consoles relying more often on the crutch of patches and DLC, there's no reason for me to ever buy a console version over a PC version, or to bother with "marginal" titles.

Well now, this could be construed as "crazy talk" without the correct caveats.

Also I recall cartridge games had bugs, so I might call you an idealist.

Edit for grammar.

My PC connects to the internet just fine, and the games I play on consoles are all single player JRPGs and turn-based strategy. Why would I need to connect my PS3 to the internet to play Valkyria Chonicles, Disgaea 3, or Star Ocean? Why do I need to connect my Wii to play Animal Crossing or Sakura Taisen?

I'd wager 80% of the games I've installed have patches on my PS3, just fyi.  PSN has gotten quite a bit of my cash... in fact, you owe it to yourself to travel back in time to last year and play Fat Princess when it first came out.

I don't know, to buy the PS1 Suikodens? Get Patches? Play other fantastic games since, you know, you're a game designer.

Trophies?  What Trophies?  You went and grew up and don't have time for games.  Now get back into your cubical and get back to work.  And for the love of god, put some pants on.

You know, I think the 326 titles I own that 1up has heard of (plus the dozens I own that they haven't heard of) give me plenty of fantastic games to choose from.

Eh, I don't know man, I got a PS3 not even really considering PSN, and now almost all the games I play are from PSN.  It's a nice service to have, and its nice to be able to have an option to play games online.

He's just being an curmudgeon (for whatever reason). I probably have 500 games in my backlog (probably more if I actually counted my PS2 stuff and wasn't just guesstimating) and I still find shit constantly worth playing on PSN. Particularly the first-ish party stuff.

And it's free and your PS3 has built in wireless.. YADDA YADDA. Don't connect your consoles to the internet?  Afraid of Cylons or something?

I can understand if you've got a 360, can't run a wire to it, and don't feel like paying MS's ridiculous price for the adapter.  By not connecting your Wii, you're not playing one of the best games released for the system.  Slim pickings and you make them slimmer.  For shaaaaaammme. </Abe_Simpson>

Look. I expect a console to connect to my TV and nothing else. Years ago, you people were trying to sell me on consoles with the argument that you put the game in and it runs. These days it seems a console is little more than an underpowered PC hooked up to an inferior monitor that expects you to type with a gamepad instead of a keyboard.

How come they don't just start making console games on something akin to a USB stick?

Well, you can move PSP and PS1 games around like that now, but it's not like it takes forever to redownload them if you need to.

I do agree that the console games which expect me to type are doing it wrong.

There's nothing more annoying to bring a cool game over to a friend's how to show them, stick it in, and then "Oh, you need a game update to play this!" and then "Oh! You need a system update to update the game!" And then 30m later you're juuuuust about ready to go. Right after the game copies itself to the hard disk.

Fuck that.

I also agree that scheduling a time to update/install a console game before it is actually played is bullshit.  I'm mostly just here to remind people that the old days of Atari/NES/SNES were not all candycanes and blowjobs.

Also that I'm very interested in playing Modnation Racers, online or otherwise.  Maybe I need to find out if I have to play online to unlock shit.  That would change my mind on where it sits in the queue.

Which Wii game? I've got the cable over there, but still haven't gotten around to buying their stupid ethernet adaptor after their equally stupid wireless dongle didn't work.

Qua?  Do Wiis in Australia not come with built in wireless?

"My Life As King" is the Wii game I'm referencing.  Granted I haven't played Monster Hunter Tri, which sounds like it's right up my alley, but next to No More Heroes it's one of the few games I'm truly glad I played on the system.  Not to say I haven't enjoyed other games, but Nintendo offerings tend to be a bit samey and those two were relatively unique at the time.
