 why so serious?
This movie is sure to piss the Larpers off.  Shades of "Mazes and Monsters."

Wonder if they're going to credit Jack Chick or not.   why so serious?

Based on the creepy supernerd Dagorhir asslicks that make the only game store in town unpleasant to play at, this may as well be a documentary. Except unlike this movie their gear all looks like shit and none of them are in this good a shape.

Dagohir is actually the LEAST "nerdy" of all the LARP rulesets.  And man, I feel like the nerd in knowing this fact.
I'd say the movie is purely based on Darkon... which pretty much lies at the pinnacle of the genre, stereotypes included.  If you want chics who'll sleep with you for game coin though, you'll probably have to do some WoD or Nero.

I think this belongs up there with Donkey Punch as one of the stupidest concepts ever.

Would have been much better if it didn't go all rapey and serious. I wanted to see it right up to that part, thinking it was a dorkness rising.

It fits what you were talking about in a sense - the RPG sessions within the movie are visualized as LARP segments more or less.

It's unbelievably corny of course, but I thought it was quite enjoyable. It's more of a romantic comedy with a big helping of nerdy references than a full-on homage to geek culture. All in all I think it's worth watching unless you hate romcoms.
