Random film from my dvd collection..
Kind of a "sleeper" among old westerns... Predates the grittier spaghetti western era, but it's got that vibe to it. It's Brando's only directorial effort, and Peckinpah and Kubrick also had a hand in it (before Kubrick was famous on his own, that is)... until Brando fired them. The production was apparently a gigantic clusterfuck, and what caused a lot of the illwill towards Brando for years afterwards. So much cash had been wasted and Brando was forced to finish the film earlier than he wanted... there was apparently more to it.. but in the end, it's entertaining, and edited well. Basic revenge story, but Brando has never been cooler. That said, he's also kind of a douche, but cool nonetheless (there's one scene in particular that's heartbreakingly absurd.. which will probably either make you laugh or hate the character).
Also the recently deceased Karl Malden is great in it.. Usually he played good guys, but he's a bigger prick than Brando's character. So you probably won't be cheering for him.
