There are plenty of movies where I can watch Sandler and Rogen doing their usual respective shticks.  They were in good form, mind you.  But how often do you see Eminem bitching out Ray Romano?

Tropic Thunder had Robert Downey Jr. playing an Australian thespian playing a black dude playing an Asian woman.  There's no comparison.

I think your mistake is looking at Funny People as a comedy.
