Passable suspense/action.. Holds the distinction of having the first Travolta villain that didn't completely suck balls (although at times that's questionable too).

and yet the original movie with Walter Matthau, Earl Hindman and Hector Elizondo is way better.

Heh. We just watched this one last week.

Horribly directed. It was like the director was trying out multiple styles of directing just to see how they looked on film. We went from the suspense of the conversation between Travolta and Denzel to the ridiculous action sequences of the cop cars racing to get the cash to the subway. They even called themselves out on the silliness with Gandolfini saying "Why didn't they just use a helicopter?" I literally facepalmed.

Travolta played a caricature of a real person, but I guess we've come to expect that of him.

Denzel played himself as usual.

And John Torturro? Why? He should stick to character acting and stay the fuck away from Michael Bay. I see wasted potential every time I see him on screen lately, and that includes this movie.

Very uneven, sometimes boring, and sometimes downright stupid. I say skip it, personally. It's not a real movie, but a collection of scenes with a threadbare plot and really no point to Travolta's character's actions.

See the original. Seriously. It's magnificent from start to finish.

Yeah, I should do that. Old man said the same. I've seen a lot of old flicks, but that ain't one of them.

/yes

Original > remake in every fathomable way…

"Should the batman kill Joker because it would save more lives?" is a fundamentally different question from "should the batman have a bunch of machineguns that go BATBATBATBATBAT because its totally cool?". ~Goumindong
