Since I love a good nerd slap fight, I will pose the question:  Who are the best new fictional characters of 2000-2009?

1.  Ben Linus
2.  Al Swearengen
3.  Dwight Schrute
4.  Tenth Doctor
5.  Ledger's Joker
6.  Capt. Malcolm Reynolds
7.  Desmond Hume
8.  President Laura Roslin
9.  Lelouch Lamperouge
10.  Alfred Molina's Doc Oct

I want to add everyone from Venture Bro's but decided it was the ensemble that made the show great.

Clearly lacking Gregory House. Eventhough the series as a whole has been on a slippery slope for a while, it has still been driven by him since the first episode of season one.

Heart the lost characters on there, but it's missing:

Titus Pullo and Lucius Vorenus
Jack Bristow
Anyone Clive Owen plays

House
Pullo
Abed & Troy (as a pair)

and, most importantly:
Bronson

Yea, he's real, but the film one isn't even a little.

After some more thinking, I'm going to add Toki Wartooth.

Definately a good point on Aeryn Soon, she's a very strong character.  I don't get Cameron,  both Derek and Sarah were stronger and John was quickly catching up by the end.

I think Family Guy covered why House is not that strong of a character.  Like Monk, he just repeats the same shtick.

FAKE EDIT: So you still denying that you are Toki?

Oh, right, video game characters.

Maiden in Black or Crestfallen Warrior (take your pick)
Kratos
Scooter (This is where the cars live, get you some)
Tannis

Slew of others I'm probably forgetting.

Like GladOS. And more.

HK-47
Wrex
Bosco from the new Sam & Max games
Saxton Hale

Hard to settle on one single pick from DA:O, I like a lot of them a lot. Let's go with Flemeth.

Also can't decide which BG2 character to pick (that was new for BG2). Torment misses the date cutoff by like 2 weeks.

The Transcendent One: AH... THE ROGUE CONSTRUCT.
Nordom: Sense of closure: imminent.

This covers too much.  Riddick Joker and GladOS are great picks though.

McLovin is a good pick also.

A nation consists of its laws. A nation does not consist of its situation at a given time. If an individual's morals are situational, then that individual is without morals. If a nation's laws are situational, that nation has no laws, and soon isn't a nation.

Perhaps you're right.. He's more of a sounding board for other funny characters.

Captain Jack Sparrow..

I'd say Patrick Bateman, but Easton Ellis wrote that shit years ago.

Oh, and Edward Cullen. Bwahaha

Major Motoko Kusanagi  (Stand Alone Complex)
While I did love Stand Alone Complex, that character goes back to the 80's with the manga (not to mention the original anime), so I really wouldn't classify the character as being from this century.

Also:

Saxton Hale  awesome, for real
