I hope they add the no-cd thing that they put into the last WC3 patch. That was really great because I could then legally load it on my netbook without having to cart around an external drive or keep an .iso on the SSD to play. C'mon Blizz, Bioware did it with NWN as well. Pretty please? I'll be your friend!

It's already nocd, just put the code on battle.net, download that version and you need no CD. They did this like a year ago, do try to keep up.

Curse you - like I really need something right now to distract me even further from my duties. Going to try to ignore it anyway - for a while at least.

add -window to the shortcut and then click on the maximize button that is now displayed on the title bar.
It doesn't expand the viewing area or anything. It still looks like pixelated ass.
I won't even give you the command that'll let you do 16:10 or 16:9 fullscreen. I don't wish to inflict that kind of pain on anyone.

Torchlight is OK. This is Diablo 2 we're talking about here. Superior to Torchlight in every single way.

Well, except graphically at this point. And no pet selling. But otherwise, yes.

Ah, my understanding was you would download an .iso of the CD. Thanks for the clarification. And yes, I am very very very far behind. Don't get around much anymore.

Well, except graphically at this point. And no pet selling. But otherwise, yes. I actually prefer the graphical style and design of D2. I find Torchlight overly cluttered and hard to work out what's going on. D2 on the other hand, even in the heaviest clusterfucks, always stayed (I'm struggling for a word here) understandable? Clear? Torchlight is obviously using far more advanced graphics, no doubt, but I don't like the way the end result plays because of the excess shinies and sparklies. Could just be a personal taste thing. I'll give you the pet selling thing though, fair point :)

I'm not going to dispute that D2 might have a style/design advantage, but technologically speaking it is so old now that it can't help but look like ass. I have no doubt that D2 done now would look better than Torchlight did now, or that Torchlight 10 years ago would look worse. But that's not really the reality of the situation.

I don't disagree with you. I'd just still rather play D2, especially at high res, than Torchlight

Have you tried turning down particle detail in the Torchlight options menu? Takes away alot of the flashy stuff that obscures the screen. I still play with it on though, I like my shiny.

So final verdict is you can play windowed at the new high resolution but there is still no support for widescreen resolutions?

Something like that. Widescreen resolution would require a total rework of the aggro system and spell system.

1.13c is out today. They fixed some stuff re: 4:3 and widescreen monitors and windowed mode.

I dunno, maybe it's been too long, but I reinstalled D2 about two years ago and couldn't get into it the way I used to.
