This game is very much worth playing but it's also enormously hard, even the developers say that they overdid things. If you're looking for something very different to the standard genres then this is refreshing. Frutrating as all hell but refreshing.

If anyone else is playing it share things you've discovered here. Not everything the game tells youis true and not allof it makes sense in the context of the information you've received at that point.

I've heard excellent things about it, but it's not widely available at the moment. Has it been put up on a digital distribution store yet?

I don't think so. I bought my copy direct from Mamba Games who are the European publishers. It came in the post though not as a download. It's also available on Play.com and Amazon.de but not Amazon.com yet.

Official site (Tension is the name for the original Russian version).

I read a few reviews about the game. It sounds pretty interesting and challenging while trying to do something new and experimental.

the Void intro
The Void (aka Tension) trailer
Women of the Void (NSFW)

What can I say, I am glad that there are still people out there that try something new. This is definitely not mainstream entertainment. It won the "Most Original Game" award at the Russian Game Developers Conference, KRI in 2007

I think the original name is something like Тургор or Turgor which maybe could be translated to Tension, dunno.

I don't want to reinvent the wheel,
I'm just curious why the square one didn't work out in the long run.

I heard there was going to be a download option at some point from Mamba, but it doesn't appear to have gone live yet. Guess I'll keep waiting, I'd rather not pay the exorbitant import duties up here.

Gamersgate is now offering it as a download.

I love you and hate you at the same time. Thanks.

Edit: Picked this up and played it a little at lunch today. I'm still clearly in the "noob zone", but it seems to be very intriguing. Not sure whether to believe the tooltips or not, which is a novel experience.

For people who aren't going to buy it but are curious about what the fuss is all about, I've been reading a SA's "Let's Play" thread on it. It's a russian guy who's translating all of the text himself which makes it much more enjoyable than playing the game yourself. Obviously, spoilers ahoy.

Here's the thread with just his posts:

That's actually about the previous game by Ice Pick Lodge 'Pathologic'.

I saw an ad for this when I opened Steam at lunch today. Apparently it's on Steam now for $20.

Not a bad deal, considering I paid $30 just a few weeks ago from some other site.

A couple 1920x1080 screens (doesn't display full screen when I play, don't know why):

It took me until I got my third heart and what seems to be me killing my garden to figure out what was going on.  While I'm still pretty confused I'm also completely hooked.  I half expect the first Sister to say something about mending worlds or keeping candles lit.

Are there unlimited cycles or at some point does something bad happen / game over?  I want to try some things with harvesting in the garden.  Oh and I wonder why holding down shift in the first Sister's chamber is walking but holding shift down anywhere else is running.
