To entertain us during downtime, and for a while thereafter if downtime is unusually prompt, here is the challenge:

Post a fitting for a faction or pirate frigate.  Make it as original as you can, without actually being retarded.  One fitting only, no takebacks, edited posts will be disqualified even if just for spelling.  Post the text block and (preferably) the EFT image as well, though using waffleimages or eve files will mean I don't see the latter for the last few hours of the competition. You can attempt to sway me by critiquing the fits of others.

Say what purpose they are for.  There is no disadvantage in posting first, as anything that just looks like a variation of an earlier fitting will not be rated as highly as the original.  More points will be given for "this ship will tank two EM doomsdays" than "this ship kills pods hella fast on gatecamps".  Also, say why you think that it is a good fit, and what weakness you see.  The latter pre-empts others and shows that you're aware of what to do with it rather than just using EFT to make the highest DPS, tank or speed you can.

They'll be rated on effectiveness and originality, with an equal weighting to each.

The winner gets the pirate/faction frigate in question and 100 million ISK to fit it out suitably in order to make a really expensive dent in their killboard stats.  Those later linking to their lossmail will be given suitable plaudits.

The runner-up gets the pirate/faction frigate from their entry.

I'll post a full list of eligible frigates when i check which ones are unique items I'd have to pay Entity twenty grand to part with, or which would require me to go back in time in order to shoot Tyrrax at birth in order to save.  Basically, though, they have to be available for purchase with loyalty points from factions, whether empire or pirate.

And yes this is open to all, regardless of standings with me an' mine.  Competition closes whenever I feel like it but it will be at some point in the next 24 hours, maybe sooner.

Here is a list of the eligible ships (I reserve the right to replace with something of much lesser value if I fucked up and included the Enigma by mistake):

Amarr Navy Slicer
Caldari Navy Hookbill
Cruor
Daredevil
Dramiel
Gallente Navy Comet
Republic Fleet Firetail
Succubus
Worm

No Gold/Silver Magnates!

You can find stats and fittings here: http://wiki.eveonline.com/wiki/Item_Database:Ships:Miscellaneous:Frigate

And of course the winning entries will be tested in EFT with an all-fives character so use that.

Only standard 1%/3%/5% implants may be used to force fittings.  No pirate or officer weirdness.  T2 rigs are fine.

While you were posting I added one more bit: post why you think it's so good and what you think it's major weakness(es) are, if any.

I should also have said that all mods except officer ones are fine.  No drugs.

Good point:  post the text version and the image as well.  Especially as, being behind a work firewall, I might not see your image (don't see waffleimages, eve-files etc).

Ammatar Navy Adaptive Nano Plating

Dark Blood Small Nos
Dark Blood Small Nos

What will this ship do well? Die. Or NOT with your 7800 effective hitpoints! It does web at 23. Plug in Dark Blood Radio and actually pump out 19 DPS while doing so! Once all the real fighting is done it will also run all these great mods indefinetely when orbiting at about 7.5 km with your Dark Blood Multi DOMINATING shit with 45 DPS and DRAINAGE! Plus it fits with 1 CPU and .4 grid to spare!

EDIT: The edit is just the dumb commentary.

Republic fleet firetail supertackler.

Dark Blood Warp Disruptor
Gistii B-Type 1MN MicroWarpdrive

Small Polycarbon Engine Housing I
Small Polycarbon Engine Housing I
Small Auxiliary Thrusters I

Overheated goes ~7.5km/s, 5km/s without heat, points to almost 30k without bonus', shuts down enemies MWD at 10k, and has a couple ACs for pods.
With snakes it'll do 9km/s overheated, 6km/s without, and 1km/s with the MWD off.
Great for wasting enemy dps as everyone primaries you has no hope of actually hitting you.

Requires Squire PG4 Implant to fit.

As I said it's a takedown vehicle. Shut down the bad guys and bring them in for questioning.

Pros: It's a police cruiser.

Cons: Uses none of the hull bonuses.

More pros: You are not only allowed but encouraged to call your points by shouting 'Woo-woo-woo' into teamspeak.

Blinking light or no, the extra speed of the firetail coupled with the fact that it is comprised entirely of cardboard, duct-tape and the sticky bits of amarrian slavers easily makes it the clear winner over the comet.

Yeah I have one of each as runabouts in Empire and the Firetail is a far better ship in all respects except for the crucial matter of the Comet being an actual police vessel. Fuck frigates with split turret layouts though.

Thee ships really aren't as interesting as they could be. They need to make faction Ewar frigates imo.

Imperial Navy Sniper

IFF array (named DCU)
Domination Nano
Type D Signal Amp
Blood Heat Sink x2

Domination 1MN MWD
Domination Disruptor

Medium Beam II x2

Small Energy Aerator
Small Metastasis

Pros
HEADLIGHTS

Cons
I make it 136 dps at 41+5k, 180 at 20k, 235 at 11+5. Points to 36. All with heat.
Flies away from faggot interceptors at 5km/s.

Against everything that isn't frigate sized, it goes fast and points things, meh, all the same in the end, switch to multifreq, orbit and do 235 dps while pointing if you must. One on one with frigates, so long as you can start at range you should be able to keep AFs out of range altogether and the fight will be almost over by the time an inty can get in range (in some cases before you are even in lock range).

If you want to be conformist, or you just really want to see taranii and crusaders cry, switch the beams for pulses, signal amp for a third heat sink, and Metastasis out to upgrade to an Aerator 2.  244 at 17+3k with Scorch. Scorch is fucking broken.

If you fly a Dramiel this is how you're going to fit it if you want to get some use out of it. First you're going to spend a lot of time getting laughed at for flying a Dramiel, but this is ok because they're just jealous of how fucking cool you look. Be sure to warp out as soon as fleet members start targeting you while trying to kill you for bringing a Dramiel. After the fight has gone down start tractor beaming wrecks so the assholes who laughed at you won't get shit. Continue to warp out as soon as someone on TS says, "Wtf, that Dramiel is salvaging!" Snicker as no one else believes them. Soon you will have earned enough money to justify flying a Dramiel. When you make it back to base unload your spoils of war and self-destruct infront of all your friends.

No implants needed. Swap to T2 Salvagers if you can use them. Cap stable with only the MWD running. Makes Appleboy jealous.

Still time for people to enter.  Especially as internet spaceship community goonfleet dot com is still down :solodrakban: and looks likely to stay that way for a while.  The deadline for entries shall be 17:00 Eve Time (which I think is mid-day EST).

(The lack of the goonfleet wiki from which to steal fittings explains why several people haven't bothered).

I am disappointed that Pezzle hasn't submitted a holy, Amarrian, suicide-bombing Slicer, and that none of the north have given us a hippiemobile aimed at repping peace-loving raven pilots under cruel assault by Serpentis pirates.

I've been playing around with these for a while.  The fight for places is hard because they all share the awfulness of operating inside 7.5km.

- Iain has the advantage that he posted first with a short-range, nossing ship.  It is probably suicide to be close enough to use anything except the domi disruptor, though, which makes it a very pricy (T2 rigged) tier 1 interceptor.  Bonus for roleplaying, though, which was clearly the point.  Definitely the ship to fly in Providence or in Delve Police.
- I really like Slayeriks' 7800 HP, mainly because I am a coward on a high-ping connectio who lost every crow he ever flew to single volleys.  But a ship that webs with no point and does less damage than a declawed kitten is clearly the man who flies structure-tanking ships taking the mickey simply because he can buy practically infinite numbers of them himself.  I was impressed by the presence of non-faction mods dotted around, and of the use of an esoteric 'Bastion' 400mm armour plate, which I believe is Cosmos?
- Nerf has a hell of a tackler there.  It would actually work as a fitting (assuming that you weren't dumb enough to fly it in lag or a fleet fight with eagles/munnins at range, of course).  And assuming that the opponent isn't a webbing, scramming frigate-killer.  But although it is frankly better than Iain's hull, it's also another short range, mwd/scram/disrupt, speed tanking nosing ship.  And did not involve roleplaying.  Death to sane fitting methodologies.
- Eldaec has appealed directly to me by building a sniping frigate.  A very expensive super-Harpy, in fact.  I'll make no bones about this being the one that I not only might, but probably will fly, downgrading the domination mods to named or T2 as would fit.  That is not, however, a recommendation.  I try and turn every ship of all sizes into a rokh.
- Gets made me laugh.  He clearly understands that good posting is the key to true success in Eve.

So Gets is runner-up, and is sentenced to receive a Dramiel of his very own.  This is a very dubious prize.  Wish me luck actually finding one, because I'll bet there are none on contract in any given month.  I almost gave it to Nerf just because it would actually be possible to find a firetail.
It was a very close-run thing for first place, and frankly Gets was not in the running :)  I'm going to go with Eldaec's, mainly because it has headlights.  I wanted to give it to Iain, but yet again he is the bridesmaid, not the bride. Eldaec winning is a travesty, but he played to his audience (a worthless, harpy-flying caldari-lover).

Pfft, theres a bunch of Dramiels on contract in Jita, but booo to you because we both know I would've actually flown a faction fit firetail.

Gets, if you don't show up on ops in a salvaging dramiel, I'm going to pod you.  Same goes to Eldaec and his superharpy.  Endie will tell me when he contracts the ships to you in Delve, you have 1 week to show up on a killmail in them, or have a thread posted on goonfleet dot com about this terrible pubbie who is salvaging in a goddamn dramiel.

P.S. You know I'll do it because I'm a sore loser, and I'm going to chalk up my not winning to Endie knowing this and banking on me enforcing the terms of your winning.

Although apparently the next big patch is planetary interaction, according to the build labels on Sisi.  I seriously and unironically cannot fucking wait.
