Anybody like to Gift me King Arthur? I'd paypal the Money to the account of your choice!
I tried, but you (enkebesh, right?) don't show up on the recipients list. I'm guessing the region blocking applies to gifts as well? Damn, thanks for trying though! Much appreciated!

This is why I'm playing more and more of my games on console these days. Shitty ports. That and invasive DRM.
I honestly go back and forth. For awhile I was into PC games because for the most part I can reinstall old games from years ago and replay them, whereas once the console goes obsolete I may or may not get backwards compatibility. The problem is that PC games are getting more retarded with their "3 install ever" type ideas and it's driving me away from PC again. When you consider that I can just insert a disc and play on a console compared to maybe spending hours tweaking shit to play on a computer it makes me lean even more towards consoles. Save MMO's, I haven't bought a non-steam pc game in at least a year. It's not exaggeration to say that steam has saved PC gaming for me.

King Arthur is kinda crazy. I think I like it.
It is awesome. As long as you are willing to put up with some glaring imbalance issues, you will probably enjoy it. Magic and Archers > everyone else for quite some time in the beginning, even with patch 1.03 and the weaker archers options. Archers come really cheap, too. At least magic is limited by the hero's mana. Afterwards it kinda shifts very noticeably towards heavy infantry and cavalry if the terrain is favorable, especially as you can get some magic counters for your heroes. Also, Old Faith > Christians. And the computer sometimes cheats like crazy, building up full stacks of armies out of nowhere faster than I can kill them, at least in the latter stages of the game. But it is a lovingly crafted game with a lot of attention to detail, and that shows. Anybody like to Gift me King Arthur? I'd paypal the Money to the account of your choice!

This is freaking outrageous. I was wondering why I only see four games in my sale list until I read up to see that King Arthur is up for you non-german-speakers. Ze germans are discrimated, thanks to Ubisoft.

This, a million times this. I still go into the local EB's but now end up just laughing at their tiny range and ridiculous prices.

You don't buy pc games at a brick and mortar store, newb. I still get boxed versions through Amazon. EB's a fucking joke. You should be ordering your console games online, too! Wal-mart is a better games distributor than EB.

I don't. I go in to see what has made it onto the shelves. No walmart here though.

The Civilization IV Complete Edition (base game + Warlords + Beyond the Sword + Colonization) is now sold for € 13.59. Nope, sorry, 26.79, but for about five minutes I got that lower price when I added the item to the cart

Eh, I actually asked them in the old Firaxis poll to remake Colonization, I just can't summon the will to buy it, even from the bin. Just seems like a crappy Civ4 mod, maybe FFH2 has spoiled me? $10? For $5 maybe, one of the sub-$3 definitely. Still, for $15 you can get Civ4 and BtS, which will let you play FFH2 L4D would probably suffer from vet syndrome, newbs getting utterly decimated by people who have played way more than is healthy for a normal human. Most online fps is good for about a couple weeks until everyone figures out all the cheese.

Glad you mentioned BtS, I'm going to have to grab that so I can check out FFH2.

Definitely. IMO, there is one thing that (more or less) recent games like Max Payne, Portal, Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit, Mirror's Edge have in common: they might be short or even very short, but they all can be summarized as * pure fun*; the same, condensed fun you could experience at the arcades (if you liked them) putting a token in the machines you liked most, or with very old games on platforms like the Atari 2600/800XL or Commodore 64. Err, meanwhile, The Civilization IV complete pack is back to 13.60 euros

I keep waiting for them to put the JoWood pack on sale so I can pick up Spellforce2... but they keep tossing other games out there instead! I'm almost out of x-mas cash now. Grr!

CoD:WaW for $25. Any testimonials one way or another? Tempted to pick it up. I can never have too many shooters, esp. if the multiplayer is decent.

Also interested in CoD 5, also a shooter fan, would like some opinions. Have played and liked CoD 4 and am staying clear of MW2. Reviews seem to be pretty decent, and I think it still has a strong online following.

CoD5 is incredibly mediocre. INCREDIBLY MEDIOCRE.
Like, instead of shooting for the moon and barely making it to the stratosphere (Infinity Ward), they shot to the roof of their office and never made it past the desks.

Re: King Arthur, its a neat game but is rough around the edges and not very well documented. It is also not very hard to overstretch yourself and basically get screwed and have to start over. Definitely play your first game going Old Faith rather than Christian. I've gotten my money's worth out of it (I bought it before the $20) I think.

If that is anything like Master of Magic then I love you.
They even include a Master of Magic wallpaper for the main menu :)

The mod is very very awesome. The main reason to buy Civ 4. I loved Civ 4, but loved that mod 3 times as much.

I guess I am the only one who thought FFH was actually pretty lame. I much, much prefer the vanilla game. The stolen artwork, names, and misspelled scenario text really bothered the shit out of me. Also, that dude's D&D campaign setting is just not that good.

Like a dumbass, i purchased a physical copy of Civ4 Gold Ed at Best Buy while replacing a broken network cable. I see that the BtS expansion on Steam requires that I have Civ4 on Steam. Since the complete pack is under $15, is it worth the grand total of $35 to be able to play FFH?

Dang missed the King Arthur sale - hopefully it comes back around. With 2 X360 RPGs, I think I now have approx 9 "new" games to play.

Hm. Welp, it's $15 for BtS at Amazon and that's the cheapest I see. Imo, BtS made Civ4 a better game by itself. Since I got turned onto FFH2, I've played one game of vanilla Civ: right after I bought BtS. I'm also a huge FFH2 fan, it's quirky and unbalanced but so much fun. My first game was also Lanun (naval civ, city names like Innsmouth and Aylesbury) with the Octopus Overlords religion...hooked since. The game I'm playing right now is Luchuirp, one of the two dwarf civs, with golem units upgraded with stealth and fireballs (worker units with fireballs!). End game you can summon the angel or demon civs and play as them, one civ is all about bringing down hell on earth, there is an armageddon counter that increments with certain actions and events, hell terrain starts showing up, horses turn into nightmares, etc. Units that level up, adepts to mages to archmages, different schools of magic with three tiers of spells from buffs to summons. Sucks you can't put the Steam expansion on the boxed game. I've gotten more than my money's worth out of the price of launch day civ4 + BtS, but I'm biased. Have I mentioned I'm biased?

I have no patience for trying to determine whether the Altar of Chlkjkutz'bala is better or worse than the Doorway of Gankoriz. I know a tank is better than a spearman.

I'll give you that, there is a learning curve to it. Each civ is pretty much built for a limited set of strategies. You can do pretty much anything, but if you stick within their strengths, you'll do much better. I still don't know all the quirks, I try to play as a different civ every time and learn them, there's just a ton of civs and each one has its own twist. I see that as a good thing. Like with Luchuirp, once you figure out what to tech to get the upgrades for their golems, you kick yourself for building so many golems before they can be built with fireball upgrades I guess it's like the X3 thing, I've chosen FFH2/Civ4 as the game I've delved into and learned and keep going back to.

QFT, I'm so sorry I bought the game at all. On 360 at that. CoD4 was better in every way imaginable, except that Dogs are less cheesy than choppers.

Well I made the comment in an earlier thread after seeing videos about the game that I hoped magic wouldn't be completely overpowered, but I expected it would be given how difficult it would be to balance. After playing it, magic is overpowered. And yes, the computer seems to be cheating at times harder than Bill Belichick with a handycam.
