What do you have? What do you like?

That should make this a lot easier.

Whoops.

I already have KOTOR I and II, Star Wars Battlefront, Ninja Gaiden, and some kind of rapper pit fighter thing.  Liked them all to a degree.

Links 2004 if you even think you like playing golf. Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. Apparently, MechAssault 2, unless you hated 1.

2nd Links 2k4- just out and out fun. I have heard good things about Top Spin if you are a tennis fan (which I am not).

The ESPN sports titles are cheap and good. NCAA Football is good. Fight Night is fun (but a thumb raper).

My wife LOVES DDR 2 and Karaoke Revolutions.  I can't carry a tune in a bucket, but have had some fun playing it as well. I think it would be a great drunken party game.

Dead or Alive Ultimate
Beyond Good and Evil
Top Spin
Fatal Frame II: Director's Cut

You know what, pick a genre as well. :)

Are there any games like Star Wars Battlefront (large-scale battles), but fun?

The battles in Halo 2 were good, but probably not as large scale as you want. The game, while good, becomes more unremarkable as you play it. I don't know how to describe it, but the magic wears off fast.

Here's some specific suggestions:

TopSpin: Best tennis game ever.

Gladius: Good turn based tactical RPG.  A bit long, a bit tedius at times.

Fable: Rent it. The love/hate ratio on this nears 50%.  I liked it a lot actually.

ESPN NFL 2K5: Great football game. 20 bucks too.

Beyond Good and Evil: If you don't own this on at least one system, you're missing out. This game is art.

Crimson Skies: Cool game and I hate planes/flying.  Cool story and lot of arcade quality fun.

Mech Assault 2. They need to work out some XBL issues, but it's still good fun.

Next best bet, I think, is Republic Commando whenever it comes out.

Cheap games to get:

I'll second (or third?) Beyond Good and Evil
Rallisport Challenge 2 is $20 bucks these days
Gladius
Red Dead Revolver -- Underrated, but a great game imo (at least for a rental)

Steel Battalion, if your hat is made of money or can con someone into buying it for you.

In chronological order of release:

Panzer Dragoon Orta - kinda old, but still one of the best shooters made in the last few years (not too hard either)
Splinter Cell - original, fun, it simply rocks
Soul Calibur II - multi-platform title, Namco does not disappoint
Otogi - BUY THIS GAME RIGHT FUCKING NOW if you like action.  Otogi is one of the most underrated Xbox games.
SSX3 - multi-platform title, one of the best snowboarding games ever made
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow - as good as the original
Burnout 3 - multi-platform title, fun but way too easy
Otogi 2 - BUY THIS GAME RIGHT FUCKING NOW (see above)
Bard's Tale - multi-platform title, cute rpg where you command minions insteading of fighting yourself

I'm suprised no one mentioned Crimson Skies.

That's what I like best about that game where you get to kick all those rappers' asses.  I can never remember what it's called. Def Jam NY City Pimpin or something.  It's obviously inspired by that classic Pit Fighter arcade game, albeit with much more complexity.  I still haven't found all the moves you can do, though I learned how to break necks last night.

Def Jam: Battle for NYC

Yeah, that's a good one to play with friends. Pretty good single player/story mode too, especially for a fighting game.

Hell, any game with Danny Trejo or Henry Rollins in it is good in my book.

Does he break necks too?  It's not a Flamin' Move.  You have to hold down the left trigger while pressing the grab button, then you can press kick numerous times to beat them into submission, or you can press the punch button to put them into a choke hold.  Once their neck's life meter runs out, the world is left with one less rapper.

Sounds like you're playing a grappler. My main character is Street Fighting/Martial Arts, so I never learned much of the other moves.

That's the cool thing about that game though..The fighting styles are unique enough that it's like having 5 different fighting games in one.

My styles were Kickboxing+Martial Arts+Grappler.  The order that you learn styles determines the moves you can do.  Martial Arts enthusiasts have tried to identify the resulting styles by their appearances, since they're not actually documented (results have been posted at gamefaqs.com)  My combo translates to Ma Tai Kickboxing, and I'm sure I spelt it wrong.

Just got 1 and 2. They BETTER be good.

Seriously though, it was an excuse to trade in some past mistakes. *sigh* Anything is better than Star Ocean (Wtf was I thinking?!!).

Decided to go with Pirates!  X-Box is just going to have to wait a week or two.

I played around with the NES Rom about two years ago.  Even then it was great.  I didn't realize this was the sequel, or I would have been all over it when it first came out.

Gotta lay my vote on Steel Battalion and Line of Contact aswell. The games are probably the most immersive I've ever played.

Sweet god Mercenaries is fun. It's a shame I blew my game budget out the window for Mech Assault (going to beat it then Mech Assault 2) and Fifa 2005. I'm a whore for my xbox now. Next pay is PoP2 and hopefully mercenaries.
