Kind of a quiet year overall - most fun things I did at the show were Diablo 3 PvP and Aiur Chef. I was babysitting people the whole time (my own fault, I know).

But that Captain's salami tray was tight, yo. You plump for the roast pork loin, dogg?

The smoothest show I've seen in terms of operation, despite no huge announcements or any other industry-changing things happening.

Where are the cosplay pictures we have come to expect in these threads?

We need some bad costumes to make fun of!

The costumes were as sedate as the presentation this year.  The costume contest was only interesting for the 3 folks who, through various methods, tried to ape the Goat-like legs of Illidan and the Dranei females. None were what I'd call successful.   Illidian won 2nd place tho, so kudos to him.

Really, the dance contest was more interesting to me this year.  The dwarf male guy was great and there was a tense moment where the doing the Undead dance broke his leg.

The broken leg was a fake from what people were saying around the con.

Yeah, Jay said he broke his leg, but given the lack of a very loud *CRACK* and him not howling in pain I figured it was a sprain or a strain at worst.   However, that's how it was presented and he was carried off so in the moment there was some tension.

I have to revise my previous statement based on what I saw of the Costume Contest. I saw all the costumes but I missed the contest itself.

There's a lot that could be said about the Costume Contest.

Missed cues, Jay (even though I laughed at it) doing double interviews, very poor stage design, (Steep, unsteady stairs, in some cases)...

I felt more with Jay Mohr on how things were going. "This is a well-oiled machine folks." Jay pissed Kat off and it was obvious.

He was clearly intoxicated.

Or High. I'm going to go with High this year.

Man, I was at that panel, and that guy wins the prize for being the least socially apt question asker at the entire convention. By a mile. And that is saying something.

Yeah, I watched that panel and it was a standout in a whole series of socially awkward inquisitors.   Still didn't make me rage in the  "wtf kind of question is that" sense like the Jaina-Thrall woman, though.

Seriously. Give it up!

That she was in tears or the answer was no-way not ever, when Jaina's practically humping him like the manly Orc he is every time they interact?

That she was in tears, I've never really saw the supposed flirting/sexual tension/whatever you want to call it between Jaina and Thrall. She is certainly not "practically humping him," she treats him like a friend she respects and who has the same goals as she does (peace). In fact he's pretty much the only other person on Azeroth who shares her goal, so it's not really surprising she likes him a lot. But I have never, ever, EVER thought she had anything remotely resembling a crush on him.

It was sort of kind of vaguely implied at in Warcraft 3 I seem to recall, but that's as far as I ever noticed it.

I love the idea of caring about lore from a company that typically has the most badly written dreck in the whole industry.

Watch the whole thing, then ask yourself if YOU would want to be there.  It's a fun getaway for players, it's a mandatory office event for them.

Plus, dealing with the socially awkward is always a chore.

The ads were better pre-2001 when they were "Real American Heros".

Right, but isn't the whole point of Blizzcon to foster better developer-player relations in order to sell more stuff? Kinda defeats the purpose if you give a cold shoulder to the players adamant enough to wait in the Q and A line.

But at the same time, yes. I would hate to be on that panel.

Making decisions on your game by listening to the lunatic fringe that's willing to wait in line forever in a gaming conference is like making coaching decisions based on the ramblings of sports talk radio callers.

I don't think he was suggesting that you actually act on what the lunatic fringe says in the QA line, just that you don't smirk like a douche while they mumble their insanity.

I actually think (based only upon the video clips) that they mostly achieved that goal.
