It's time for the Playoffs, where according to Benjamin Bratt, moments are made. Of cheese, or something. Anyway, here's the scoop. Pick the winner of each playoff game. Correct pick is worth 1 win, incorrect pick is worth 1 loss. Running total will be kept in this thread. Winner gets... well, probably nothing. This is for teh fun. Picks are due by midnight the day before the first game, so for this week it's by Friday, midnight, since the first game is Saturday afternoon.

Saturday, Jan. 8th

RAMS AT SEAHAWKS - Please tell me the Seahawks can finally beat a really subpar Rams team. Rams suck outdoors, except against the Hawks. Get it together, Holmgren.
JETS AT CHARGERS - Sorry, Chad, you just aren't as good as this team has been.

Sunday, Jan. 9th
BRONCOS AT COLTS - BWAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAA!
VIKINGS AT PACKERS - Hey Pack, learn some defense. Hey Vikes, learn some defense... next year. Sherman, please don't play a prevent D on 4th and 26 with the victory, kthx.

Considering how well I did in the baseball playoffs, I'm going to try a new tactic. I'm going with my gut...and then picking in the exact opposite direction of what I think will happen. Except for the Colts, I'm not picking against Peyton. That Being said.

Seahawks
Jets
Colts
Vikings

Seahawks - Rams suck worse.
Chargers - This will be close.

Colts - This one may be a laugher.  Broncos can be amazingly bad at times.
Vikings - Just a feeling.  Favre's due for a self destruct game about now.

Rams - Upset special! This team is strong on offense when Bulger is healthy and on his game. The emergence of Stephen Jackson has helped to compensate for the diminishing skills of Marshall Faulk...the same could not be said earlier in the season. The defense can be had, but you could easily say the same about the Hawks, and St Louis has a better offense. In a contest of Martz vs Holmgren, it's simply a matter of which coach will out-bungle the other.

Chargers - The Jets can only milk an aging Curtis Martin for so long, and their passing game isn't anywhere near as strong as Diego's. Look for the Jets d-line to apply some good pressure, but I expect Brees to get favorable matchups using Gates all day...particularly using motion to get iso's on linebackers. Schottenheimer's defense is underrated, and every bit as sturdy as New York's, so I'll take the club with more offensive firepower.

Colts - It's Manning against a porous Broncos D. Plummer and Droughns could put up career numbers and still find themselves down by a 2 TD margin. Champ can partially neutralize Harrison, but Wayne and Stokley are far too dangerous for Denver's other DBs, and Edge should get solid yardage on the ground....look for Lynch to be among the first guys to put a lick on James on most carries. When your safety is making most of the tackles against an offense like Indy, your playoff hopes are pretty damn slim.

Packers - It's Favre in Green Bay in January. Moreover, it's Favre in Green Bay in January against the Vikings, who traditionally stop playing football right around Thanksgiving. And did I mention that it's Favre in Green Bay in January?

Bring the noise.
Cheers...............

No to nitpick but (this even isn't really an issue with what you posted, just something that irks me)..

Quote

Champ can partially neutralize Harrison

I don't get how Champ Bailey is even considered a shut down corner.  He's been fucking torched all year long.  3 touchdowns to Jerry Porter and others have had similar big days on him.  Sure, he might have better luck vs. a smaller reciever, but the guy has just been taken to town all year long and they still sing his praises from the rooftops.

I think whether Harrison torches Bailey or not is just as simple "does Peyton want him to?"  Peyton simply just seems to find the hot reciever or flaw in the defense and rip to tiny little pieces.

I can't wait to see the Broncos get creamed.  I dislike Jake Plummer greatly.

Anybody who talks about the secondary as a way to stop the Colts is putting the cart before the horse. The secondary will have almost no job in stopping the passing game, that will be entirely up to the defensive line. If Manning has time, there are too many hot hands on the Colts to always be covered up by even the best secondary.

I used to root for Plummer when he was at Arizona, as he was one of those crazy-ass fuckers who seemed to get better as the situation got worse. I liked his moxy, and bemoaned the fact that he was on a shitty team. I always thought he would be a Super Bowl caliber QB when he got a good team behind him.

Guess not, huh? Fucking retard still throws a bazillion INT's, and makes just as many bad plays as good. It wasn't just the team.

RAMS AT SEAHAWKS  -- SEAHAWKS -- I dislike the rams.  Something about the color scheme.  Although the Seahawks fucking ruined my fantasy defense...
JETS AT CHARGERS  -- CHARGERS -- I think they ride this wave, then get knocked out the next game.

Sunday, Jan. 9th
BRONCOS AT COLTS  -- BRONCOS -- I'm a huge broncos fan, and I fucking hate Jake Plummer, but I have faith that Lynch will break Stokely and we will win.  Here's to hoping that Tatum gets some space to stretch his legs on the turf.  Also this would be a huge upset.
VIKINGS AT PACKERS  -- PACKERS -- Fav-re I hope you wi-in.

RAMS AT SEAHAWKS - I'm not too sad that I won't catch this game.
JETS AT CHARGERS - Drew! The Chargers far far exceeded my expectations this year and it was pretty cool to see Brees decide to ignore the fact that he wasn't even supposed to be starting, let alone starting in the playoffs.

Sunday, Jan. 9th
BRONCOS AT COLTS - I'm so rooting for the Colts this playoffs.
VIKINGS AT PACKERS - Fuck the Vikings, fuck them up their stupid asses. There is no professional sports team I hate more than the Vikings.

Interesting matchups. I think the best game will be Minn. vs GB.

Saturday, Jan. 8th
RAMS AT SEAHAWKS - Mike Martz is a fuckup so he will find a way to lose against the disappointing hawks.
JETS AT CHARGERS - Time for Pennington to put up or shut up, imo he does shit like he has done all season long.   Its sad that the Jets WRs didn't do much of anything until Qball the backup QB came in and actually threw to them.

Sunday, Jan. 9th
BRONCOS AT COLTS - Plumner sucks and Peyton threw me under the bus in my football fantasy playoffs so I hope he never wins a playoff game :p
Colts will win though, too many good recievers to cover.
VIKINGS AT PACKERS - I was so happy when Mini lost last week and with it their chance to make the playoffs... fucking Carolina pansies.

Early superbowl prediction:  Pitt vs Atlanta - Atl seems to be the only semi dangerous team in the NFC and they are still very inconsistent.  Pitt has a rookie qb that doesn't play like one and one of the best defenses in the NFL.

Looks like Paelos and I went 3-1. I guess that means we have a steel cage match to the death to see who wins.

It justs goes to show, I can't pick players but I ain't too shabby with teams.

To save the strife and minimize the suspense: this year's Super Bowl will be a Pennsylvania Super Bowl. Pittsburgh vs. Philadelphia with the Steelers coming out as the champions. 'Nuff said.

Philly, perhaps, barring a major upset by either the Vikings or the Vick-ings, i mean Falcons.

As for Rothlesrookie making it to the show. I think you need to reevaluate the 49 point asswhomping the Colts laid down at will. Not to mention the Tom Brady show where losing isn't in the vocabulary. Hell, I'd even give the Jets a shot now that they've pulled out an early round win. No, my friend, the AFC is far from decided.

You mean the Tom Brady show that we handily shut down earlier in the season? No contest. Pats can't do it against our D. Come to think of it, neither can the Colts.

Pittsburgh hasn't played the Colts, and all who have faced them with such attitudes have fallen handily. Defense or not, they find ways to score. Baltimore has an equal if not better defense than Pittsburgh and they still got 20 points hung on them.

No the way you beat the Colts isn't on defense, it's on offense. KC proved they can be beat in a shootout, but Pittsburgh doesn't have the offensive abilities to do that. They average in the 20s, which is a Colts off-day.

It appears my football ESP only works on Sunday.

Of course, the Chargers could have won their game if Shottenheimer(sp) didn't call such conservative plays once they got in field goal position.  If you've got a rookie kicker for the win, you better get him into extra point range.
